E45 has always worked for me. Then I use an artists barrier cream to lock it in. Art supply shops have it, hair dressers also have a good barrier creme they use, Amazon carries a few too, (Gloves in a bottle is decent )and Avon had one that was good too. It helps with the next few washings too.

If she has severe eczema, she really needs to see a doctor about it. When I had a bad case some years ago (cracked, bleeding, bark like skin, itchy as hell), nothing but the steroid cream (I was given dermovate) helped.

My hands aren't as bad, the situation is aggravated because of the washing/disinfecting and I find that using glycerin a couple times a week (or every day if it's getting really uncomfortable) helps enormously. Just put it on and let it sink in overnight. It's not as convenient as a hand cream so I don't prefer to use it during daytime unless I am home all day and don't need to so much with my hands.

Has she tried Fucidin H? It will need to be prescribed by a doctor but it may help.

Metanium (yellow nappy rash cream) could also help.

I’ve suffered from eczema / atopic dermatitis as they diagnosed all my life on and off, it really flared up about 2 years ago and have no idea why I’m 23 now. I couldn’t sleep and still can’t sleep on my back due to the extreme itching, I would be in tears after every shower and it took me ages to get ready for the day, I tried everything going, all home remedies you name it. I eventually got seen by a dermatologist who gave me two huge packs of creams to try. The only one I’ve ever found that works is Doublebase Gel, as it’s a gel it really does moisturise your skin and doesn’t dry up like the others, I use it every single morning and Elocon when it flares up bad every so often now.

Google exorex cream- doesn’t contain coal tar. A lot of the standard creams contain coal tar, every single one of them didn’t work for my dad! He swears by the exorex now. Few chemists don’t get it in any more but you can get it online.
