Derek Chauvin sentencing

He'll be in protective custody or segregated, at least for the first few years. There'll be someone in there who would be happy to knock him off for a variety of reasons. Prison clout, money/protection/priveleges or someone already serving life who is willing to do it and take the stint in isolation or whatever the extra punishment might be.

It definitely should be longer. But at least we know that once he gets out he’s definitely not getting the life back that he once had.

wouldn’t surprise me if something happened to him in person. Either murder or suicide. He doesn’t strike me as the kind of guy to do well in prison.

Ex-law enforcement rarely do. He might try to get in with the Aryan gangs if he's ever allowed to mix in the general population area, which is highly unlikely. It will be interesting to see how the next year pans out.

Apparently, he did not use the opportunity to apologize to George Floyd's family and his (Chauvin's) mother proclaims his 'innocence.' Well she would, wouldn't she?
Edit: Should have clarified...he 'expressed his condolences' to the Floyd family before his sentencing but not a direct apology for killing him.

They probably won't put him in general population in prison due to the fact that he was a police officer so he will be less likely to be attacked.

22 years sounds like a long sentence but there are so many horror stories in the US about men (black men) getting similarly long sentences for much smaller crimes, drug possession and the like.

Oh for sure. Just can’t imagine he’d last long in that situation either. Must be extremely isolating in protective custody.
