Sorry but don't agree with the jokes. Whether you believed what he did or not he didn't deserve the abuse he got from the trolls, i met him many years ago he was delightful and had time for his fans. He will be missed.

I always found him entertaining (funny how all those spirits had the same accent when channelling through him); some of my family watched Most Haunted religiously and my auntie would say “it’s you lot that are putting diamond studs in his ears”

I think good riddance to people who lie about speaking to dead loved ones. It’s cruel to give people “messages” from passed relatives.
I’m sure he was super friendly to people stopping in the street, I’d be nice to everyone too if I thought I’d made a mint by bluffing about the other side. Got to keep the illusion going otherwise the money train stops....Just because he was friendly in the local shopdoesn’t mean he wasn’t a cold reading, manipulative POS. In my opinion.

I always felt his treatment by Karl Beattie and the horrific Yvette at Most Haunted was unfair and became the butt of jokes. He was set up to look like he was fake because Yvette hated him being more popular than her. - something I just read on the Digital Spy forum.

There's been so many Colin Fry and Sally Morgan to name a few. I saw Derek in a show he was doing and he was very accurate. One of the persons he connected too i bumped into and i asked her if she was genuine or if she was planted there, she assures me she was merely a fan and was shocked that Derek had made a connection to her deceased Son via her.

a friend of mine went to see him in a sitting in Liverpool and he predicted the name of her son( she didn't know she was pregnant at that stage) he also predicted the dads full name which only a few people knew, she hadn't had any contact beforehand or filled in any forms and it was the days before SM took off , she had split with the babies dad and he said to watch this space because in time they will come together, she came out laughing saying that was shit , but then found out she was pregnant, she had a boy called him what derek had predicted, she was still arguing with his dad and he went abroad as derek predicted, when he came back they worked it out and married, she changed her mind when she remembered the sitting she had with him. A lot of coincidences or was it all true, either way she became a believer. He seemed a nice fella

I know someone who had worked with him in the same industry and they said he was indeed, once, genuine in his field but the fame got to him and made him ridiculous and a parody of himself almost. Talking of Sally Morgan, dear god, I saw her live years ago it was soo embarrassing. She put on a voice of the deceased she was 'talking to'. So like this child that had drowned was coming through to her and she put on this high pitch voice saying "mummy its water, the water". I couldn't believe it, the audience were horrified and some left... i thought it was far too much.

I used to love most haunted when he was in it . Not sure I believe or disbelieve him as a medium , but I do think he was set up by Karl and Yvette. He did come across as a genuinely nice man

I am so sad to hear of his passing, do I believe he was genuinely psychic no not really, still didn’t stop me from sitting terrified watching Most Haunted with mum as a kid
i often read bad psychics and the author of that site admittedly took the piss out of Derek on a few occasions and outed him as a fake basically disproving his life‘s work I suppose, but he wrote an article this morning giving his condolences and speaking of how Derek and his wife had not a bad word to say, which I thought was quite sweet.

I was at the time a huge MH fan and I remember reading about this:
Derek went on to talk about Kreed Kafer with the parapsychologist and then Karl allegedly contacted the press to reveal that Derek was lying..... Kreed Kafer = Derek Faker and Rik Eedle = Derek Lies.

There were tumours at the time were that Yvette didn't like how popular he had become and was the face of Most
Haunted more so than her or her husband.

Just had a look at Yvette's Twitter page and all she wrote was condolences to Derek's family and Karl has written the same thing . They could've at least done a better tribute....which leads me to believe they did have a major fallout.

I remember crying I was so scared watching the MH at Pendle live Halloween episodes.

I also remember when he channelled a dog

I think he was as good as any medium (I don't think it's channelling spirits, it's clever reading of body language etc...) and highly entertaining.
