Have also been to USA, Australia, Mexico, Zambia, Botswana, Singapore, Spain, Portugal, Norway, Denmark, Austria and Greece.
Plus I'm from Ireland so there too.

thank you, all pleasure, I love travelling. No kids, a good job and a big annual leave allowance lets me have some fun. its my only indulgence really, I don't smoke, rarely drink, not one for buying loads of luxuries so that is my thing

My husband and I were talking about this with friends earlier. I’ve been lucky enough to visit quite a few countries - absolute favourite has to be Mustique or Bali. We used to go to one of the other every year. I have very fond childhood memories of both places.

It’s interesting how people talk about Bali like it is it’s own country and I think some people probably don’t realise it isn’t, especially those who haven’t been. I can see why tho - it’s part of Indonesia where I’ve travelled a little , and though every island is different Bali does feel especially individual - own language, dominant Hindu religion, lots of focus on “balinese” culture in food , architecture etc

Anyway according to the been app I’ve been to 30 countries but I think it includes the 4 UK ones separately. It also counts the Channel Islands separately which is odd. Some may find Israel and Palestine being included separately as problematic but this isn’t the place to get into that - I’m going by the app.

My rule on layovers is if you don’t leave the airport it doesn’t count but a quick day trip does. Same with driving through - a stop at a petrol station doesn’t really count but lunch in a town does. Though that’s a bit more of a grey area sometimes driving through a country can give you a real sense of the culture even if you don’t stop!

The summer after next I’m going to a friends wedding in Zambia which I’m very excited about.

Are we counting England, Scotland, Wales as three or just one? So those three (one? UK) Ireland, France, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, Malta, USA.
I think I've forgotten some. Also Majorca, Lanzarote, Tenerife but technically they all count as Spain.

I've been to most of them more than once. Wouldn't go back to Germany again as I just found the Germans so rude (in Berlin anyway) Wouldn't go back to Turkey because of the fucking sleazy men My husband and myself went with another couple and the men just didn't care. We were standing next to our husbands and they'd come over trying it on and stroking our arms etc. My friend got it even worse than I did because she's (naturally) blond which they really seem to be into.

I find the Irish the friendliest, but I am there a lot as I have Irish friends and family. I'd happily live there but can't persuade my husband. Maybe when we retire. The Polish seem a bit aloof initially but once you start chatting they're quite friendly. Where I live has a fairly big Polish population and I have a few Polish friends who told me before I went that if I made an effort to speak to the locals in Polish they'd be friendlier. My Polish is fairly basic buy I did find even things like saying please, thank you etc seemed to make a difference.

Iceland is lush. I've been twice now, definitely go it's amazing. We went in January the first time and September the second time. I'd go Jan/Feb time if going again.
