It is my 32nd Birthday tomorrow 🎉 it’s a good job I love Christmas or I’d be stuffed 😂😁 I feel so content right now, having a cava with hubby and cooking some party food for Christmas Eve dinner 🎄🎄🎄

30’s have been my best years yet, can’t wait to see what next year has to bring (hopefully lots of nice things)

Can we have a January thread to keep each other happy! 🎅🏼

I think the fact Xmas starts from about September is quite sad. It definitely takes away some of magic. When I was a kid my Mum would start Christmas shopping right at the beginning of December and it was regarded as quite soon!! The tree never went up until mid December and it was just magical month.

Now it's all instagrammed and competitions as to who can have the biggest tree, go to the most events and generally be the most ridiculous.
When me and my siblings were little my parents didn't have half as much stress or competition around Christmas that parents seem to have now. There was no "Elf on the shelf" No Christmas Eve boxes, no pressure to buy matching pajamas and pose in front of the tree. They were just relaxing and memorable. I did have Santa and the pressure to behave but I didn't have an Elf watching me, destroying our house or eating my chocolate on top of that which would have really stressed me out as a kid. Social media has ruined a lot of things.

If I’m not sat on that sofa by 6pm on Christmas Day ready for Wallace and gromit, the soaps and then gavin and Stacey, with chocolate in one hand and a drink in the other, pjs on, bra off, and the rest of the family haven’t left by then I’ll be fuming x
After opening presents in the morning with my teenage boys. This is is my favourite part of Christmas Day. In the living room, tree the only lights on, M&S candles on, big glass of Chardonnay to start, all the soaps then Gavin & Stacey. Drink wine all through this and then have some snacks later, maybe nachos or something with sometimes more dessert. Usually on on my lonesome as we have returned from my mums and the boys go into their rooms to play PlayStation with their pals. So peaceful and I just love it. Excited 🎄🎄🎅🏻🎅🏻

Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas ❤

I’ve really enjoyed this thread over the last few months. Nice to be able to talk to others who enjoy the prep and build up too.

If anyone wants to make a Christmas 2025 thread, I’m here for it. If for no other reason than to see @Miss Begotten ‘s head explode 😂

Just realised Tattle have made us all into Christmas baubles! I knew Tattle was a nice place really. Mumsnet haven't done anything nice, the miserable cows. Happy 1st December everyone!

It's my first Christmas buying for the younger generation in my family! I'm going from vagabond graduate family member, to adult who buys stuff for my cousins' children. I've got everyone under 10 a children's book - it was pricey, but I want to get it right, so I'll accept the cost. For a 13 year old boy, his mum said to just give him cash. For the adults (my aunts, uncles and cousins) I made a hamper with different Christmas sweets and drinks, hoping everyone will share nicely!

It's my first time being a major gift giver in the family!

It's just me and my cat this year so it'll be leggings and a hoodie for me, I might put his little bow tie on him lol

One more day of work to get through next week and then I'm officially on holiday. God I need the break. I can't wait for everything to just stop.

I bought a book for the now cancelled hotel stay so I'll enjoy that. In my mind, I have lots of tidying plans. In reality I'm going to do sod all except eat cheese.

I've bought a posh (ho ho ho- what I mean is I bought the only one available other than some shrivelled grey things) grass fed chicken. It was £15 but sod it, it's Christmas.

I'm really looking forward to Gavin and Stacey.

Ultimately my take away feeling for this year is that I've definitely felt worse than this and we've all survived another year. That's good going!

Merry Christmas ya filthy animals 😘

I am working at a Santa's Grotto this year helping Santa and keeping the children entertained in the grotto while they wait. Also, this Saturday we have "Santa Paws" and people will be bringing their dogs in, I can't wait! 😀❤

Your messages have inspired me to keep my tree up until the new year 💖. I always see this time inbetween as Christmas still and I live alone so I could have the bloody tree up all year and no one would know 🤣 I’ve tidied the kitchen stuff away but that’s purely cos my kitchen is tiny and I needed the counter space to put my Xmas snacks on as atm I’m grazing like a cow in a field 🤣

I love this. You are going to open the best presents of your life on christmas day 😂😂 I buy myself things on the sly while christmas shopping and don't bother wrapping, have it straight away :devilish:

Let's face it, we're just going to be disappointed opening all the tat everyone else gives, aren't we!!
Honestly, I was losing the will to live being excited by dove sets and hand warmers, I really was. I know it sounds ungrateful, and I’m not, but there’s only so much bayliss and Harding one can have in one’s life. So I started this a few years ago, and by the time it gets to Xmas, I have forgotten what I have bought, and it’s a genuine surprise 😂😂 and the added bonus is that I’m actually excited on Xmas morning again, like childhood 😂😂 bless me, harmless really

evri keep throwing parcels over my back gate without ringing my doorbell and when I’ve asked them 4 times now not to do it. Might make a stern sign for the back gate but also don’t want my new neighbour to think badly of me 🤣
amazon threw rat poison over my neighbour's, with dogs fence leading to three nearly dying and a huge vet bill and that was Amazon delivery and they didn’t give a toss! It was also not their parcel!

Does anyone else get presents for their pets?

I was pleased the toy selection box I got for my cat has been delivered.

And there's some gormet cat food for her Christmas lunch just been put away in the kitchen. :ROFLMAO:
Yes, I’ve gone mental and he has about 7 to open 😂 I love that there’s loads of animal lovers on this thread. He has also got a tin of Lily’s Kitchen three bird feast for his Christmas dinner and we have Christmas themed biscuits to put out for Santa Paws tonight 🙊 AND we have a personalised letter from Santa Paws telling him how much of a good boy he has been this year.

Am I having some sort of psychotic break? Potentially, yes. Do I care - no 😂 anyone who thinks I’m weird can take their opinions elsewhere thank you very much indeed 🤣🤣

I just want to say Happy Christmas and thank you to anyone working over Christmas 💕
I just sent an online request to my doctor's 10minutes ago and they've already called me and prescribed me some medication
