Thanks for sharing, salted caramel, coffee, butterscotch, caramel and toffee I’ll pass all the more for you guys.
Ooooh now there’s an idea! There’s a polish supermarket nearby. I may take a looky next wk. I’ve lived here ages and somehow never ventured inside. I always feel self conscious going into specialist stores, like if I’m not polish I am intruding.I tried the M&S big tin last year and wasn't keen, the chocolate was kind of fruity. I normally like M&S chocolate but they weren't for me.
For regular chocolate bars, I've started buying polish chocolate from Tesco, the Alibi Max bars, the classic one is how I remember Lion bars tasting and Knopper nut bar, they're just like our chocolate bars used to be and they're cheaper than our chocolate.

Oooh our Sainsbury’s has a good Polish section…I tried the M&S big tin last year and wasn't keen, the chocolate was kind of fruity. I normally like M&S chocolate but they weren't for me.

Oooooh this is promising news. Thank you for validating my purchase!I tried some of those Leonidas mushrooms the other week bc I went to get a box of chocolates for a Birthday gift, and of course bought myself something too. I got the dark chocolate one and the white chocolate one. Both were delicious!!!!
I thought Hotel Chocolat was amazing when I first discovered it but it's very mid in more recent years. I used to dream of buying one of their massive selection packs with dips etc, wouldn't bother now!Speaking of posh choccies, I remember how excited I was to see Hotel Chocolat arrive in Ireland and then how bitterly disappointed I was in the quality. Entirely average and so overpriced!
About 25 years ago, Hotel Chocolat were mail order only and my sister got a deal on a monthly box of chocolates from them, back then their stuff was delicious, really special, or at least we thought they were. When the shop opened in my town and I tried them, I was also bitterly disappointed. The chocolate is so waxy, it doesn't melt in the mouth and the flavours aren't nice or even interestingSpeaking of posh choccies, I remember how excited I was to see Hotel Chocolat arrive in Ireland and then how bitterly disappointed I was in the quality. It's absolute filth. My guilty pleasure is a small box of rose and violet creams from Fortnums. In lockdown I had a box hidden in my sock drawer and had the occasional one when I felt sad.Speaking of posh choccies, I remember how excited I was to see Hotel Chocolat arrive in Ireland and then how bitterly disappointed I was in the quality. Tell me what you really think?!Not the crappy o'briens plug!
You were giving out about the choco on malteasers the other day (btw they taste great!), and here you are bigging up lily "I create tiny over-priced crappy tasting chocolates" o'briens. Personnn (cause idk if youre m/f/other) are you serious?
There's far better Irish chocolatiers available globally, rep them over this crowd.
As it happens, I tried those Lily’s as they were on nectar last week. I really liked them.Tell me what you really think?!
I got the Lily’s on a deal in Dunnes and enjoyed so I was happy to recommend. Maltesers have gone to rit. I’m incredibly calorie conscious so I can be ridiculously precious about the treats I do allow.
It’s ok if our opinions differ! What superior Irish chocolate do you recommend??
