You sound like a pick me girl so I see why it’s not for you 😹😹😹
calling someone a pick me girl just because they don’t agree is such a lazy argument

pick me girls wanna be first in line for defending trash men over women, not agreeing with a Reddit thread isn’t pick me behaviour.

I find that thread interesting myself and I wouldn’t compare it to incel guys at all but I wouldn’t be throwing insults at another woman just cos they don’t agree with me

Even if she did have a case for plagiarism, which my own legal experience leaves me to believe she doesn’t, that simply gives her a right to pursue FG in the legal way. It doesn’t give her an excuse to accuse someone of being a white supremacist, rapist, ect, incite bullying, and use the vile language she has used towards other members of the black community. I feel like FG definitely has a legal case against her for harassment/slander, but I don’t believe she would pursue it due to how she would be perceived. She has also caused considerable harm and distress to the other influencers such as MB, although I wonder if they would have less of a case because they also engaged with it on a public forum (which I think they had every right to do). I really wish she had to face the consequences of her actions. It seems her ego won’t allow her to see any of her own wrongs but yet she is hypercritical of everyone else and quick to play the victim. And I can’t even believe she has the audacity to accuse other people of bullying her when she has the audacity to trample on anyone who dares to disagree with her narrative. Sorry for this word vomit - just getting my thoughts out 😂

It's really pissing me off that while the entire rest of feminist Insta/ Twitter is discussing Sarah Everard, rape culture and sexual assault, Chidera is literally just soliciting donations, banging on about FG, and promoting her Skillshare course and her book. She literally only wants to use her platform to bring other women down and sell her wares.

It’s not reliance it’s simply date people who enhance your life and finances is a huge part of that, I was one of those girls who thought that way (the example of the 20k girl for 50k guy etc) but reality is you have to use your common sense and realise it’s not about bagging a rich guy it’s about accepting the best rather than settling
How about date people that actually enhance your life, not just your “financial” life. You know men with less money to spend can enhance your life just as much? I’ll enhance my own life by earning my own money. I really don’t understand this take on relationships.

I don’t know how anyone wouldn’t be hurt by all that went on.
I don’t think enough was brought up about how she implied that FG would fake suicide attempts/mental health crises to get one over on her - that’s never ok and I can’t stand the way she’s out to get apologies for people having pubes or painting a picture of a black woman but she’s making shitty statements like that

I'm not sure if they are just completely thick or trying to be "woke" by backing a black women despite the evidence or what? It's embarrassing.
Both 😂😂😂

It's really vexing me that SF is now responding to the Sarah Everard and anti-Asian murders by dragging up her own older tweets and circling the dates to show that she was speaking on male/ white supremacist violence ages ago. Like..... babes you weren't the only one? People are talking about it a lot right now because there's literally been high profile murders in the news..... I just hate this constant and blatant self promotion off the back of people's deaths.

pretty brief recap ;-

Chidera has accused Florence Given of plagerising the contents of her book including colour scheme/fonts/images
This saga has been ongoing since december with SF attacking all and sundry ( including members of the black community) who have all got very pissed off with her for various reasons.
Chidera belives she is owed 70% of the FG book sales.
BMM refused a substantial donation from FG off the back of SF claims which angered a lot of people in the black community
Chidera has been accused of being greedy as she has ( and i beleive continues to ) receive donations from members of the white community who are desperate to be seen making reparations.
Chidera posts zillions of stories a day ( and appears never to sleep) on IG that are from white followers ( mostly.. not all) which contants massive chunks of red text which is difficult to read.
Chidera currently has no agent /management company . Its uncertain as to what is happening with Quadrille Publishers as they seem to have been left out of the picture.

You can't steal someone else's words (Erin McKean) and then be upset when someone else does the same thing. Why is CE not setting people straight on her not being the first to say this?

Might I recommend a book that I think many followers of this thread would like? Amusingly, I’ve not read it but my (male) partner has but when ever I bring up SF he cites this book:

Why Women Have Better Sex Under Socialism: And Other Arguments for Economic Independence

by Kristen Ghodsee

tl;dr if you live in a capitalistic society then money is power/control and having a man (or anyone) pay for everything leads to an imbalance of power.

Also on the zine being made public... the debate changed long ago from being a discussion on if she copied or if she didn’t. What it’s morphed into is a much more complex case of who we believe and why. SFs argument, amongst other things, was that her work was stolen by a white woman for her own profit and that essentially no one believed her when she called it out. She was dropped from management etc. and lost “friends” who publically supported Florence over her. All these people did so and beloved Florence over SF before seeing this zine evidence.

Is it a question of why can’t you just take a black creative on their word?
I think Chidera has succeeded in showing exactly why, unfortunately, we can't "just take a black creative on their word". Being black hasn't prevented Chidera from being dishonest, greedy, and spiteful. For me this whole saga has proven exactly why "innocent until proven guilty" is the right stance to have - because Chidera has proven nothing, whereas Florence has backed up everything she's said with hard evidence. So I vehemently disagree with those who said at the beginning that people were racist for wanting to wait for more facts and evidence before forming an opinion or speaking out against someone. No, that's not white supremacy, that's having a reasonable and open-minded approach to something you know nothing about yet - something I think the entire Internet hivemind needs to learn more of!

I wasn't saying all women are dependent on men. I am not so it's not clouded my judgement, but I just meant that in a lot of cases it's just not that simple when your lives are entwined and (sometimes) kids are involved etc. I understand that maybe married women with kids are not her focus but everything depends on your circumstances.

Using myself as an example, I bought a house with my partner when I was 24 and around the age of 26 I realised that we weren't right for each other. It took me 3 years to actually leave though because life is more complicated than just "dump him".

Do you know what, ignore me. I am being a dick... Lockdown is getting to me and I felt so trapped in so many ways this week, had a shit week, feeling bitter etc.

I know what she is saying, I do think it's simplistic but I get the attempt to empower (which is always a great message).

As you were 😘

I feel like someone should jump into to back you up just to say it really can be that complicated. Fka twigs just spoke about how gathering the strength to leave and detangle herself from Shia was a process that took (I think it was) months.

So whether there's kids or marriage or you share a house together or not, you have to consider things like "am I mentally/emotionally stable enough to be on my own," "do I have a support unit who can help me out," "am I financially independent enough to stand on my own," "is it safe for me to leave right now - do I have all the necessary resources/the right conditions," "can I afford to feed my kids," I've seen stuff on reddit where people talk about how leaving someone physically abusive can take meticulous planning (as well as support, strength, knowing they need to leave). It can be quite dangerous or hurtful to tell someone to just leave, when that's not necessarily what they need. Like, for example, imagine someone lives with their partner, who is abusive. The partner has isolated them from their friends. This person is maybe estranged from their family. And their partner pays the bulk of the rent because they have a higher paying job. If this person literally just leaves, where do they go? What do they do to support themselves. If they're pushed or shamed into leaving before they're ready, it makes not going back and not giving the person more chances so much harder.

And I work at a charity helpline and we're told not to just tell people to just leave abusive relationships because we don't know the intricacies of their circumstances and that can come off incredibly judgemental and simplistic

Tbh my biggest worry is that she’s getting a load of girls on £20k a year to submit to men on £50k a year as if that’s worth trading their independence for. Like sadly proper wealth is held by a tiny % of the population and they’re certainly not dating outside those circles or women that want them to pay for their time on dates (yes you’d expect them to pay for the date, or any bloke really ngl). Same with “higher” earners (eg over the additional rate threshold), but even then a high income is absolutely not wealth & can come crashing down at any time so would be stupid to rely on? All of this just feels so joyless and loveless too??

The advice is dangerous. We’ve all grown up either having mums fucked over financially by dads or mates who have, it feels like TSF has entirely forgotten this happened? I’m in a situation where I’m very lucky but I won’t ever give up my career because I’ve got a baby I’m always going to be responsible for, even if the dad wants to fuck off halfway across the world (which they can & they do!).
