okay so i may get totally utterly scrutinised for this

ok its sad shes gone and committed suicide so we think HOWEVER

if this was a man everyone would be saying he was weak he was a woman beater he should rot in hell hes an abuser etc etc so why are all the tissues out for Caroline fair enough there was no proof HOWEVER again if this was a man everyone would be saying somthing completly diffrent no diffrent then when these sex abuse allegations come out everyone defends the victim i just feel its all a little bit sexist prepared for all the hate im gonna get lol
I must admit I feel the same. Would the Media be falling over themselves to post tributes if it had been an (alleged) male perpetrator?

Domestic violence is not treated as seriously as it should be by our society. Difficult when the partner ‘forgives’. Two wrongs do not make a right, but i find it hard to believe we would take a harsher view if the genders were reversed in this instance, given we’re in a society where Johnson is PM and Ben Stokes wins SPOTY.

I feel deeply sorry for her family and friends.

The police report of the scene they found at her flat was horrific, she could have easily killed her boyfriend. Sadly I think she knew she would never work again once all the details came out and it's upsetting that she thought ending her life was the only way out.

This is so true. I know from experience 20 years when an Ex split my head open in a jealous rage. By the time we’d arrived at the hospital to get it stapled back together he was so sorry, it was my fault, and I had changed my story to being drunk and slipping in the shower. The next day he bought me a ring to ‘show how much he loved me’. Absolutely crazy behaviour when I look back, but after leaving the relationship and getting help, I pin realised this is not unusual.
I'm glad you left and got help, this is unfortunately not common and happens far too often.
Sometimes people just don't realise until it's far too late, and it's so easy for outsider's looking in to say "just leave, I'd never let anyone do that to me, etc etc" but 99% of the time the abused doesn't really see that they're in an abusive relationship until much later, if at all 😢

She won't have got a custodial sentence for that. If it was, it would have been a suspended sentence. She would be looking at a fine/community service at most. There are guidelines for these offences. My mate is a CPS prosecutor.
These are the sentencing guidelines for common assault. I’d say it’s a cat 1 offence given lamp as weapon (if that’s correct). Any decent defence solicitor will give worst case scenario-otherwise if someone gets custody when expecting a community penalty they are fuming with the solicitor & wont instruct them again.
so I don’t think it unrealistic for her to have been advised custody was a real option. I also think this is the typeof case the magistrates/district judge would love to make an example of & sentence harshly.
Quite frankly if I thought I was facing a custodial sentence, potential loss of my relationship, loss of career, potential financial ruin plus long-term press coverage of my downfall I’d feel suicidal.
I feel really sad about this. I’m not condoning what she alllegedly did. But at the prosecution’s case it was common assault-the most minor assault charge there is. Thousands of people will be convicted of this daily.
Also because she’s died there will be no trial, so no one will ever hear her version of events & the press can now write whatever they want about her as you can’t defame the dead.
This is so unnecessary. RIP Caroline.

that’s a bit out of order seeing as she hasn’t been found guilty! Fathers for justice just undo any good when they post shit like this. Like when they posted about Kerry Katona being the reason her ex died 🙄

Agree that the stains in the photo do look very bright red whereas in my experience blood dries darker (thinking of period leaks rather than murder lol), may be wrong though.

Also the irony of the bf begging everyone to leave her alone - he was the one who dialled 999! If he wanted to deal with it privately why did he pick up the phone? Really hope there is some repercussions for him posting on social media etc about the trial!

It amazes me that both Caroline and the boyfriend are trying to make out like none of what's recorded is true, and all a misunderstanding! If there wasn't enough evidence to go to court then the CPS would drop it but it sounds like there clearly is. If Caroline had any self awareness she'd change her plea, admit she had made a mistake that night and make some kind of link to a domestic abuse charity to show some kind of awareness that what happened wasn't on. I still think if she was the male party in this couple, she'd be sacked indefinitely from Love Island. I don't think it's fair that as the female she still has this possible option to go back to that job.

Has anybody else noticed how all of a sudden all the articles about her are positive and how ITV wants her back! I am so shocked, she is a complete shit

Not astonished at her stepping down, bit of damage control by her PR and ITV they will let her return triumphantly for the main show come the summer. Look how they stood by Ant, granted him and his sidekick are touted as the nations sweethearts.

Flack got lucky with love island, the limited amount of screen time suited her limited presenting skills. She wasn’t afraid to flash the flesh or live the party lifestyle the show demands. She was dire on xtra factor. Her Strictly win didn’t lead to any bbc gigs or anything of any substance like it usually does for previous winners.

Maybe she was self harming and hit him with a lamp because he rang an ambulance for her? Honestly god knows what went on but it’s really not adding up is it?! Surely one or both of them must have been drunk/off their head though whatever happened!
I know someone who was involved that night and it’s exactly what happened.

So sad. ITV must be running about right about now. Ant gets a welcome back on stage at awards show. PS is protected. Caroline commits suicide. Absolutely dreadful. This broadcaster is reminding me so much of The Morning Show series right now.
Yet another perfect example of the sexism and old white boys club that is the UK media industry.

This wouldn't have happened if she were a man as he would have been protected.

RIP Caroline, terrible you had to go in such chaotic circumstances.

I never watched anything she presented but I certainly didn't hate her

She reminds me of this girl I went to school with. Popular at school, had two friends who were girls and literally bullied every other girl, very much like Regina George.

She would also flirt with any male that she came across and her philosophy was "any male is game, wedding rings come off" I saw her again on a night out in our early 20's and she went back to a hotel with a groom to be on his stag (of course that's his doing as well and not completly hers but to me, anyone who isn't single is out of bounds, of course men can lie about their being single but this bloke made it clear he was the groom) she was also known to give men lapdances in clubs and gyrate against them on the dance floor etc while girlfriends were there.

But yeah, that's how the Flack comes across. I don't like her, she has a not very pleasant feel about her.
