Im not against supplements after this op, clearly they are needed, but they are inferior to real actual nutrition. Theres one huge myth that the meat industry keep using, that you can only get b12 from animal products, balls. Its a micro bacteria found on vegetation, soil etc and some mushrooms and seaweed. NO animal including humans can synthesise b12. So they give it to animals as a supplement so thats why they say its in meat. You do however really need it daily, the liver does store it for up to 3 years, but if your daily intake is low you is gonna be quite unwell. If you dont have enough it can lead to extreme fatigue, memory loss, brain fog, nerve damage, anemia...all kinds of problems. B12 is water soluble so you will pee out excess, meaning you need it daily. As my diet is plant based i do take a supplement. The liver is the primary storage hub for nutrients, vitamins etc....so if your liver is struggling, you are not going to get the right nutrients into your blood stream and be ill. Vitamin D is stored in the liver then sent to the kidneys where it is activated.
Some info about supplements:
Supplements are inferior to whole foods because they lack the complex synergistic matrix of real nutrition. Whole foods provide a balanced combination of vitamins, minerals, fiber, and phytochemicals that the body requires for optimal absorption and function. Conversely, supplements often isolate nutrients, which can limit their efficacy and biological value.
Again I say, doctors are not gods, the corporate pharmas are just after your money. Yes they do good things, but in other aspects all they care about is cash.
