I’m self employed and so relieved about the seiss grants being extended until September, I nearly cried. I have taken such a loss this last year as a lot of my work comes from the wedding industry. In jan and feb I took a third of my usual earnings.

Why didn’t you claim furlough as a limited company. We have a construction company and I claimed furlough for me and hubby and one employee for one month last April when we shut.
I agree though is always people like us that gets Shafted!
“People like us”?

Maybe should of said that then. As I read it as you were doing brilliantly before COVID struck. As with your huge generalisation that everyone else has done great out of Fu

Ooohhhh I’m so sorry I also am fully aware that turnover is not the same as profit. But the way it was written was such that they were doing amazing before COVID hit. And now with the budget on top of it they wouldn’t be doing as amazingly?

Anyways I’m off back to work now my happy carefree days of Furlough are over 🤣🤣
Edit to say I’m joking obviously!!
Ugh us disgusting furloughed people 😉🤣

:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I was furloughed at one point and I got sick of seeing posts on social media about "how lucky the furloughed people are" "us lot still having to work for our money" etc etc etc. It wound me up no end. Furloughed people didn't choose to be out of work!! It's not a choice!! Whilst yes, some people are enjoying it, they'll also have a worry in the back of their mind about whether they have a job to return to. Not sure why some people slate those on furlough so much like it's their fault

I've just brought this thread back to life. Maybe the mods may be kind enough to delete the date, so that we can use the thread for future budgets too.

So, how's the budget affected you this time. As a pensioner I'm pleased the triple lock remains, the cost of petrol is frozen, Mr HL will benefit from the draught beer announcement, and my son is happy about the child care help.

Daily Mail have an online calculator where you enter your salary and a few details, such as how much fuel you use and your energy costs, and it tells you how much better/worse off you’ll be. I’m about £60 worse off. Only area I seem to benefit in any way is fuel costs. I’ll be £59 a year better off apparently.
