Hey all, just wondering if you use kindle or read physical books. I’ve only started getting back into reading. I’m reading Everything I never told you now.

There is a mix here. I personally read kindle, physical and audiobooks and have one of each on the go at all times.

I read faster on my kindle than I do physical books and I love my library so will always support them.

I just finished the family experiment (John marr), I really enjoyed it, was pretty hooked and read it very quickly (for me). I thought it was a bit a bit unrealistic and silly in places but I would read more of his. I think with tv/film don’t mind things being ‘unrealistic’ maybe as you ‘see’ it but sometimes it puts be off in books.

I have just started promising young women, as I enjoyed the Rachel incident.

I'd been in a real book slump but a week's holiday has sorted me right out!

The Passengers- John Marr : Loved the idea of this, thought it was a bit silly in the end but a good beach read. Want to read more of his.
Divine Rivals- Rebecca Ross: Sweet story but happy to wait for the paperback to read the sequel.
Just for the summer- Abby Jimenez- Loved this, wish I'd read her others before as I understand some of the characters make an appearance in this.
Bad Summer People- I was a bit disappointed by this one, all the characters were pretty horrendous I didn't care much for what happened to any of them . I suppose the clue was in the title
Belladonna- Adalyn Grace: Interesting idea, found it dipped a bit in the middle but I liked it enough to want to read the sequel when it's out.
Under your spell- Laura Wood: LOVED it, my most favourite recent read. I think I saw it recommended on here so thank you for another solid suggestion!

I'm getting towards halfway through Fourth Wing...

Just at the point where Violet has TWO dragons choose her! I'm loving the book, more than I thought. I do feel though that alongside Violet that I have been punched, stabbed, and tried to run up obstacles, ahaha, I feel like I've gone along for the ride rather than being a fourth wall observer. I'm hoping now she has dragons that the rest of the book is good.

Me again
I stayed up to finish the Milly Johnson book and when I got to the end of the book there was the reason for the dedication by the author at the beginning of the thread, as mentioned in my previous message above.
So I'm posting it here as it rings so true for me. I found books and the library again due to the pandemic, and have also struggled to find a book group that didn't look down on romantic fiction until I found a home in this Tattle forum.

July wrap up (I included Witness 8 with June reads but it overlaps and I can’t get rid of it so not that one!)

I think this is the closet to a slump I’ve been for a while. Father’s Day was actually very good though which did save my last three reads really. Once I’d got Richard Madeley’s voice out of my head, it was better I’m keen to try more of his out in future, I was pleasantly surprised.

The feeling of strutting into a big Smiths (because it was always called Smiths, not W H Smith) and going to the Point Horror section to see if there was one you hadn't read. I had so many!

Raced through Steve Cavanagh's latest Eddie Flynn book Witness 8. Another absolute cracker (slightly predictable if you have read his other books so know that Eddie and his team always come good although I am still not over Harper dying earlier in the series.) but 5* for me

Exactly and then it's annoying if you can't find another 3 books to make up the pound.

this is also me in the works with their 3 for £6 books i always end up picking up a random extra two (yes i know i could just buy the one i actually like the look of but then where’s the saving?!)

doing garbaugust again this year purely to read all these random the works purchases that are taking up valuable bookshelf space

I'm currently cringing with embarrassment at my behaviour today.
I went to a meeting and was immediately pounced on by a woman who I recommended some books to that you had told me about.
Seems that she has been looking out for me as she enjoyed them so much ......so far so good.....until I forgot myself and my mouth ran away with me.... until I finally came to myself and realised I must sound like an addicted fangirl.
I think I might need to emigrate.....

I guess it's a good thing. I think it's from growing up in noisy/chaotic environment and having to learn to filter things out to get the peace and quiet I crave.

Editing to add that reading that back makes it sound like I had a traumatic childhood. I didn't. It was just loud!

My library don't charge fines, but they do now charge 20p per book that you reserve online.
I know 20p isn't much but does put me off reserving books now

My library charges a 20p per book, per day fine, and also charges 70p per reservation which puts me off a bit.

Reading The Marriage Portrait, it's such a good book! I got it on the librarian's recommendation, think I will be back to talk to her some more!

Will we ever get a full complete set of illustrated Harry Potter books? Come on, this is ridiculous now. First the Jim Kay ones not being finished and now Mina Lima.

Finished Homecoming by Kate Morton today. Really enjoyed it, great story. Would definitely read others by her.
Now starting At the Table by Claire Powell. It was a recco from a workmate.

I finished Iron Flame last night . . . I’m not ok! Also I need to next one to hurry up and be released as I need more

Also I’m really getting into fantasy this year - I’ve never been much of a fan until this series and ACOTAR.
