Black Under Eyes

My skin isn’t too bad and I look after it quite well, live a relatively healthy lifestyle and take my vitamins- but under my eyes are black. I get enough sleep and according to my last health check I’m healthy. Anyone have this and can offer advice?

There are various reasons for dark circles under the eyes and most of them aren’t something that can’t be treated topically with an eye cream despite what the skincare industry would have you believe.... What is your skin tone? Darker skins are more prone to this - pigmentation. Ensure you wear sunscreen around the eyes to minimise as much as poss.
Do others in your family have the same issue? It can also be a family trait which unfortunately you can’t do a great deal for.
Are you a big eye rubber? Or rub your eyes to remove make-up a lot. You can drag the skin by doing this causing skin damage and inflammation. Try not to rub at your eyes.
It can be a loss of fatty tissue or age related, the shadow can cause a darker look, you can have fillers to plump the areas up.
Some people swear by facial massage, with jade tools also to improve the overall tone of the skin.

Really, If you’re getting enough sleep, have a good diet, take care of your skin in terms of hydration, spf, not rubbing etc it probably is something you’re just prone to and you’re best to try to visually minimise with a colour corrective, light reflective cosmetic.

Nicola Chapman was having some kind of treatment or filler or some specialist derma treatment as she suffers, I don’t think it made a higher amount of difference but I believe he has videos on it

Thanks, this is all very interesting. I do rub my eyes a bad habit of mine since childhood and I’m now old enough to know better. My skin is medium fair, I have to stay out of the sun due to rosecea as I’ve got older. I’m inclined to agree with the large loss as I think I look sallow/ gaunt around the eye area. I will look into the jade roller before filler but will take a look at Nicola Chapman. Thanks

I have the same issue. Good diet, exercise, sleep, water etc but it's been an issue as long as I can remember. Nothing topical has ever worked, or jade rollering, or microneedling. Only makeup. I have heard that filler under the eyes can work but not tried it myself.

I had this, nothing at all worked and it would take sooo much concealer to make them look even halfway decent. I’ve just bit the bullet and had under eye filler last week, it’s much improved I think - but was painful and expensive.

Up your water to 2.5 litres min and you will see a huge difference

ETA - if you are over weight or on a higher weight bracket you may actually need more. I’m a size 16-18 and I try and have a minimum of 3 litres and that’s on days I don’t exercise x
