Oh this is interesting, although I'm sat here with a currency converter trying to figure it out from the states.

Two bedroom apartment in a duplex in suburban Great Lakes area, COL is about average for the US, maybe lower.

Rent $550/ £450 (it's higher but my brother pays $200 because my nephew uses my second bedroom). Rent includes water, trash, recycling, and composting, as well as annual property tax.

Car note $291/ £238
Car insurance $88/ £72
Gasoline $70/ £57 (approximate, depends on prices which go all over the place and how much driving I've to do)
Student loan repayment $421/ £344
Cell & internet for the house $91/ £74
Netflix/Spotify/BritBox: $12.99/ £10 each
Power/electric/heat $147/ £120 (this is the average, winter is a lot higher because it's very cold so this month I'm paying $220/ £180)
Health insurance and medication $241/ £197 (this one hurts as it's just for myself and no dependents)

I also pay about $600/ £490 in taxes right off the top of my check each month, before I ever see it. This goes toward an overlarge military presence, rescuing athletes who bring drugs into totalitarian countries, paying for old people to have health care I'll never experience, and......not much else. Roads? Politicians? Corporate tax breaks?
