Best drummers and guitarists

Me and the other half have narrowed our top three drummers down to:

Dave Grohl - no words, amazing
Reni (stone roses) - plays off beat and love it
Travis Barker - technically incredible

and only managed two guitarists:

Eric clapton - no words
Slash - plays some of the best solos ever

I like this topic , although I've probably hit a blank and can't think of them all.

Guitarist-Tony Iommi , the only one I can tolerate long winded solos from .

I love The Yardbirds and they had Clapton , Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page as guitarists.

Drummer - Roger Taylor . I like Roger Taylor's vocals too.

Can't think of any other drummers at the moment .

What about bass players?

Dimebag Darrell was the best metal guitarist.
Nile rodgers is probably my favourite guitarist, because I love funk/disco music.

Best drummer - Phil Collins without doubt followed by Carl Palmer and Bill Bruford. Best guitarist - Steve Howe followed by Richie Blackmore and Jimmy Page.

My favourite drummer by a country mile is Jimmy Chamberlain of the Smashing Pumpkins. Love how he incorporates jazz licks into rock music.

For bass I LOVE CarlosD, ex Interpol. His bass lines are so playful and don't just follow the guitar.

I like a few guitarists, mostly indie ones. John Squire, Bernard Butler, I loved the tone of Jeff Buckley's guitar, Billy Corgan, always loved James Dean Bradfield's solos - he's underrated. The Edge, sometimes.

If we are talking bass guitarists I would add Chris Squire from Yes and John Entwhistle from The Who. Both took playing bass to another level.
