Not yet. I think I’ll have to book another appointment. I haven’t done any of the exercises he gave me to do as I can’t bear the thought of it. I’m in pain all the time so I can’t find the motivation to put myself through more discomfort.

Unfortunately you're going to have to if you want to improve. Doing nothing is going to result in further problems as you're likely to compensate in some way and get pain elsewhere. You could try a foam roller or lying on a tennis ball and moving round on it till it hurts then holding there. There are times when I lie on the foam roller or tennis ball and it literally takes my breath away but it does work.
 
I was suffering from a lot of pain in my late 40s. I was becoming stiff and it was affecting my mobility. I started taking high doses of Vitamin D and it's now virtually gone. My mobility is back to normal and I'm fine. I have to take the Solgar brand. I cheaped out one time with a lesser brand and the pain returned. You have to take the highest dose they do. I take 4000IUs every day, even during the summer.

Try to limit your carbohydrate intake. My pain diminished when I went low carb and I do get breakthrough pain if I have a carby week.

Vitamin d is a great shout. My son had a vitamin d deficiency. Gp prescribed 20,000iu 3 x weekly
He was basically hibernating before they realised what was wrong.

Where do you live? Apparently most people in North England/Scotland are VitD deficient as standard.

As a minimum I think you should ask for antidepressants if you aren't already on them, or increase the dose. Any chronic pain is debilitating physically and mentally. Being disinterested is a common sign of depression.
