I gave up a long time ago, they did have the cheek to chase for payment. I once drove over 40 miles using hands free, on hold the whole journey.

In 2008, we bought a table and chairs from Sainsbury's Homebase. The table arrived in flatpack packaging, when we opened it the table was broken. We examined the box it came in, and noticed that it had been opened by someone else. So someone else had been sent the table in that condition, and they obviously sent it back, but Homebase didn't bother to check the condition of the item. We returned it, and were given a replacement.
SCS, my parents bought a leather sofa a few years ago, had it for about 9mths and it dipped in the middle.
So I’ve purchased a chair and footstool from Snug so far. The footstool has a mark on it which I’ve flagged and been told it is ‘bruised’ from the packaging but should go… Will let you know on that. Very nice looking furniture though and easy to assemble.
DFS!! We ordered a couch for our new house back in July and were told it would be a 10 week wait…long but fine. 10 weeks have been and gone without letting us know there was a delay. So when we called first we were just told they expect it early October, that came and went, then this week finally a phone call to say it would be delivered Friday (today), yesterday they called saying supplier issue and it would not be delivered Friday but would definitely be Saturday the next day. However they had to cancel the delivery on their system and apparently it takes 48 hours for them to rebook a delivery slot ( for some bloody reason). They said they’d call back later that day to confirm Saturday delivery was happening…they didn’t call back. So we called them today looks like it will Monday delivery now but they can’t book it on the system yet (again god knows why now) and will have to wait till Sunday to rebook our delivery for Monday- as if that’s going to happen. Im just so fed up now. Im literally breastfeeding my newborn on the floor in front of the tv. Not how I wanted maternity leave to start. I’ll never shop at DFA again.

SCS - bought a sofa four years ago, and from about 6mnths old it's looked saggy and as if there's not enough filling in the cushions. One of their bosses came to look at it and said there wasn't anything wrong. I think he needed a trip to Specsavers.
Cult Furniture - really rude customer service.
Conversely, I've had decent customer service from Wayfair. I bought a day bed that came with a piece missing and they just sent the piece rather than having me return the whole thing. Also had a lovely chair and lamp from there. No issues.

Any furniture places you would recommend? I was considering some things from Cotswold Co. but now not so sure.
Ikea. I know it won't last forever, but I've never had a problem with anything being damaged on arrival.
I've not bought anything from them, but I know people who've bought from Loaf who have been impressed.
I bought all my living room furniture apart from sofa (so coffee table, bookcase etc) from a small independent store on a high street. You might be able to find similar.
It is expensive for flat pack however we have a lot of their furniture and it has lasted and they have a good range of styles.
We also had great service when a driver couldn’t get to us and we were credited without even asking.
I can recommend Sueno for beds. I got my bed from them and I’ve had it for years and love it. Reasonably priced and brilliant customer service. They’re based up north I think. I’ve not bought anything else from them. But I got some nice bedroom furniture from dunelm

so the chest of drawers break easily, the sofas are really cheap like the chairs bend really easily (however my cousin has an argos sofa and it’s actually decent), also if you were moving house just forget about taking the furniture down and rebuilding it, it will break( i mean a wardbrobe or something)
Wayfair- NEVER EVER again. Utter rit furniture from China covered in chemicals that stank, other items vile cheap crap, broken stuff, hefty return fees… i could go on and on…
Made- hit and miss.
Swoon- sounds like I’ve been lucky. Very good.
Furniture Village- good.
Barker Stonehouse- great customer service when things went wrong.
Rocket St George- great.
Next- overpriced Ikea stuff really.
Ikea- cheap but does the job.
I would also recommend scouring local shops and second hand places for unique finds.
Just check for smells and wood worm!

SCS. Horrific service from the start. We went in thinking that if we asked for the best quality, hard wearing leather sofas that would be suitable for a dogs to occasionally sit on with us we'd be ok. We were replacing 20 year old stunning leather sofas that had endured 3 children and 2 dogs and still looked good. We just needed more seating.
Ordered, delivered, wrong order colour way. Took it anyway. Within 6 months the stitches on the main seating started to come apart. A gentleman came out and said he would stitch it. Changed his mind and said the factory would do it...buggered off.
I got a letter telling me that it was my dogs that caused the damage
my dogs never sat on that sofa. We are not large guys, the dogs have their own beds. I couldn't be arsed fighting. Less than 1 year in the skip. Sisi Italia.
I've now bought a stunning Ercol set, John Lewis. 70s style. Incredible solid wooden build and beautiful materials. It's the type of furniture you'd get refurbished. My first time not going for leather and I love it
Oh and 3 years on it looks as good as new!
