My mum lost her youngest brother just before xmas (this is before I was born), then 20 years or so later(different years), her eldest brother and my dad both collapsed just before xmas and never came back out of hospital.

My granddad passed away three years ago today. Although he went into hospital earlier at the beginning of the month, no one knew when he would go. It was a sad waiting game. Christmas isn’t the same anymore as he was the glue that held our family together.

so sorry for your loss ❤

My Dad passed away on New Year's Eve, it'll be 13 years this year and it still hurts. I'm so so sorry for your loss 💔. You do learn to live with your grief in time, just take it day by day and look after yourself ❤

So so sorry for your loss. It hurts any time we lose a loved one but I think at Christmas it stings a bit more. I lost a friend a few years back on Christmas Day. A wonderful mother of 4 taken way before her time. I always light a candle for her on Christmas morning x

It takes time and not something you can rush. My Nan died on Christmas Day 18 years ago and my Dad died 5 years ago but his funeral was Christmas Eve.

It's hard and it's the first time I truly understand the phrase that someone can die of a broken heart, it felt like a part of my heart stopped wheny Dad died.

It doesn't get better as such, it just gets easier to live with and the early days are just a mass of what ifs and should have dones.

Don't beat yourself up, cry when you want, laugh when you want and do what feels right. Allow yourself to process all the stages of grief in your own time and don't let others dictate to you how you should be feeling.

My mum had her brother funeral on xmas eve. She said if they had not had my elder brother (he was only a few months old) they don;t know how the family would have got through it.

I had a friend who died just before xmas, and the family asked me to play (with others) in an orchestra at her funeral. I can't quite remember the funeral itself, I think I played in a daze.

My Nan passed in the first week of December a few years ago. Funeral wasn’t until after Christmas. The whole of December is just sad and empty for me now.
10 years ago today a couple I went to school with were killed in a car accident. I always feel for their families this time of year.
Sending you all love ❤

My husband was taken ill on Boxing Day and taken to hospital. He came home on 30 Dec and passed on 3 Jan. So, this time of year is always tinged with sadness.

My mother died on 20 December, fifteen years ago. We couldn't bury her until after the new year.
