Has anyone else had a family member pass away over Christmas time
I have. My dad passed away on 12th December a couple of years ago. Not specifically over “Christmas” but certainly ruined Christmas time for us. It’s hard, but I promise it does get easier.Has anyone else had a family member pass away over Christmas time
It takes time and not something you can rush. My Nan died on Christmas Day 18 years ago and my Dad died 5 years ago but his funeral was Christmas Eve.From the bottom of my badly bruised and bented heart thank you to everyone who has replied
It only happened yesterday but I cant get my poor head around never seeing him again on hear from him I didnt even get to give him his xmas gifts
My mum had her brother funeral on xmas eve. She said if they had not had my elder brother (he was only a few months old) they don;t know how the family would have got through it.It takes time and not something you can rush. It's hard and it's the first time I truly understand the phrase that someone can die of a broken heart, it felt like a part of my heart stopped wheny Dad died.
It doesn't get better as such, it just gets easier to live with and the early days are just a mass of what ifs and should have dones.
Don't beat yourself up, cry when you want, laugh when you want and do what feels right. Allow yourself to process all the stages of grief in your own time and don't let others dictate to you how you should be feeling.
