Annoying things your work colleagues do all the time? #9

In my job, I would never get this kind of situation occurring. What do you do in this situation? Can you say you don't have time? Do it in your own time?
If I don’t do it it won’t get done. Best I can do is push it to the end of the month while he continues to add to the stack 😐

This is seriously beginning to piss me off. Especially after the new girl got a telling off for her timekeeping.
Lazy’s new start time is now 8.30 instead of 9am due to his kid’s school start time changing. It was initially 8am and he was never on time, so it got moved, he couldn’t make that time, so it got moved 2 more times until his new start time was 9am.
Anyway, he is now pretty much always late and rocks up at any time after 8.35 and he always has some kind of excuse. Stuck behind bin men, cyclists, anything and apparently that’s ok!! If me or someone else is late, we get “did you get lost?”
It was just me and him for the last hour yesterday and he’s been confiding in me he’s been looking at job vacancies. I need to leave before he does as I can imagine his work load will be a tit show and I’m not dealing with that.

I'm in the process of handing over a task to a colleague. There are very comprehensive written instructions on it which were done by my predecessor and I learned the task using these because they are so good. I sent them to my colleague and yet he has still had to ask me numerous questions, all of which are in the instructions which he hasn't read.

Has anyone ever mentioned to management the unfair treatment?

Has anyone ever mentioned to management the unfair treatment?
Not the unfair treatment, but when I had a review with my line manager, I brought it up, without mentioning names, about how some people take advantage and how we’re not all managed the same way. He wanted to know who I was talking about, but I refused to say who. Said he can’t help if I don’t tell him.
The girl who has now gone on mat leave has also had words with the line manager about Lazy because it really infuriates her. She has a good relationship with him, too, and he told her “don’t tell me about my team!” 🙄 it didn’t go down well.
TL won’t address it, she’s got no balls. She just picks on me and my other colleague.
My line manger doesn’t care about what’s going on, he only cares about the optics and how he looks. Apparently, he’s forever posting crap on LinkedIn.
The team leader is going away today (logging off early) and lazy asked her yesterday what time she was setting off. I could tell she didn’t want to say as he would then know when he was safe to toss it off. She even admitted it to me at lunch time! 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

I've just gone through the hiring process for a new role on my team, but I'm just a middle manager and couldn't make the final call - it's complicated. But I've had to turn down my favourite candidate and I'm properly gutted. 😔

This is my first time managing a team and we're growing really fast, I just hope I have the chops to make it all work.

Our useless manager has left me off the rota for next Tuesday when I am meant to be working. I'm going to leave it and see when he finally realises.

Arghhh 🤬🤬 being messaged on teams asking if I’m “ok” cos id been away for 45 mins. I was having my lunch and then I have proof I was messaging someone else on on my team. Message the person who goes offline for hours, not me!! But it’s “not accurate” when it comes down to him. 😒

QMLAT

He still hasn’t realised, but he’s actually made a much bigger duck up which meant that the late shift who are supposed to do 12.30-18.30 this week all came in at 11 but were scheduled to leave at 5pm meaning a critical task wouldn’t get done. This meant he’s had to ask them all to do overtime which has massively pissed off the department head.

I‘m not going to to go in tomorrow and see if they call me. I should have been due in at 12.30. Pray for me.

That level of monitoring would infuriate me. Can you get one of those mouse jiggler things so your status doesn’t reset to away?

I often go away from my desk during the day, I go to the gym, put washing in, take the dogs out etc, but crucially, I get all my work done even if it’s not within my appointed hours because I make up time. No-one looks at how long I’ve been on away.

My dad even suggested getting a mouse jiggler, which surprised me! I’d be too scared to use it in case our IT department somehow found out.

I was having my 30 mins lunch break that we are entitled to! When we are in the office, she walks to the shops and is over half an hour when we are in the message. I’d messaged someone on my team 15 mins before messaged me asking me why I was 45, so I’d obviously been online the who time, but she tries to make it sound like she’s worried about me (she does the same with another female) as I live alone. 😒🙄

I’ve been told if you have a laptop a teaspoon on the trackpad works to keep it active instead of a jiggler!
