If this is true hes in trouble.

I think it could be this kind of thing that brings him down from a legal standing

They’re a very messed up family and as much as they pretend otherwise, they’re not like the rest of us. I know he’s as much a person non grata as Andrew is but I think there‘s a lot of truth in what Prince Harry has said about them.

Im sure there's some truth to it too. But also a lot of what was said was fact checkable and not true. They kind of undid themselves.

If youre going to do a 'tell all', dont embellish or say stuff that people can prove isnt true as it makes people doubt everything

Yes. It would be expecting an awful lot for anyone “normal” to emerge from that dysfunctional lot. I think Harry is a twit and painfully self-obsessed but if I had to pick which “side” is closer to the truth between Harry and Charles/Willam/the firm I’d say his version sounds a lot more likely than theirs.

(OT but I do miss your Matt ravings )

Me too...Where is Matt anyway? He could always volunteer to be part of Andrew's staff and advise him on keeping his private life private? ;)

Precisely. It's the old guard who have been shielding this perpetrator. The younger royals, most importantly William, seem to abhor his behaviours.
Charles and his generation will come under scrutiny despite all the prepared PR statements trying to protect the King from allegations of knowing what was going on yet saying nothing.
I have a feeling Camilla’s days will be numbered when William ascends the throne.

What TLQ was paying for though was her Platinum Jubilee not to be ruined by the court case. She might not have asked any questions beyond that, considering she was dying and all.
I thought it might be to shut down any questions and prevent her granddaughters from further embarrassment.
She was a good and loving grandmother.

I think William takes a bit more of a circumspect view on his parents marriage than either his mother or Harry did/do. His parents were cometely incompatible and both of them cheated.

He seems to get on okay with Camilla, Kate seems to get on with her like a house on fire.

I doubt Camilla will want to carry on royalling when Charles shuffles off this mortal coil (if she even survives him). I think she’ll retire and just retain a few like ‘The Queen’s Book Club’ that she can do from the living room of that retirement home she’s already bought in Gloucestershire, and otherwise disappear.

A public buying off of the victim didn't look at all good though no matter how much she wanted to protect her granddaughters.

I'm sure she'd much prefer to do that if she actually does survive Charles. She can enjoy her grandchildren in peace then.

You could argue that if it wasn't about the money, she wouldn't have settled.

I've no doubt that Virginia had her eye on an ample settlement as compensation. I wouldn't want to be bought off in her situation but obviously she has been badly damaged by all her torrid experiences throughout her life and money is attractive.

The court case was due to be smack bang in the middle of her jubilee celebrations and a lot of the tit coming out now and worse would have come out then.

Also, and more charitably, she knew she was dying and she probably didn’t want to deal with that tit in the final year of her life. Can’t say I blame her for that one. Imagine dying and the last headline you’ve read is about your sweaty son diddling teenage girls against their will.

Yeah, but taking the settlement doesn’t automatically mean she was only after the money. It also means she avoided reliving a horrible and humiliating incident in her life publicly and then facing an absolutely cruel and relentless cross examination about it.

It also avoided the chance that she would lose, which pre-release of the Epstein files would have been quite high. She didn’t have much evidence besides that one photo and her word against his.

Plus I think she knew as more came out and it became clearer Epstein was a foreign agent, her days would be numbered in case she started talking. It was a very good way to make sure that her children were provided for in case she was bumped off.

Yes I'm sure she would have lost a court case.

I’m guessing that’s sarcasm, but if so it’s said with hindsight. Things were a lot less clearcut before the Epstein files were released. The case would have been in the US where the Matlis interview wasn’t widely known so there hadn’t been such a visceral reaction to it. Plus at the time Giuffre was coming off the back off her loss of her case against Dershovitz when she admitted he hadn’t abused her and she had been ‘mistaken’ which was largely seen as proof she’d lied.

She’d bought about (I think) 6 cases at that point, none very high profile names, but they would have been if they’d fought the cases. I couldn’t name one. A lot of people argued at the time that she’d bought cases knowing people wouldn’t fight them and have their names dragged through the mud and that they’d just settle, the first time someone fought her, she did lose.

Plus at that time she had a multimillion pound fortune. If Andrew hadn’t settled, he would have effectively had pretty much unlimited resources behind him to fight the claim. He would have had a far stronger legal team behind him and no doubt powerful people prepared to take his side.

It’s by no means certain she would have won back in 2022.

£12m isn’t pocket change and the royals are notoriously tight. They weren’t paying for pizza express or a photo. Not in my opinion.
