I know someone in Ireland that did it alright . The person married a woman who later said she was gay so they had it annulled. I don't think they were married long. But it's possible

That's not true. Every situation is different. He might be entitled to a very small percentage of the value of the house or even none at all. It depends on any contribution he made to the mortgage if there is one,or upkeep of the house, whether his name is on the deeds,how long they were living together etc. There is no automatic right to half of the marital assets in Ireland.
