Oh god, remember going into MAC when I was a teen too. They were always disinterested witches. And I was going to buy a few things, but they never paid the slightest bit of attention to meYeah I find Charlotte a bit much but the products are almost always great and the staff in my local store are lovely. I don't ever feel intimidated (flashbacks to braving the MAC counter when I was a teenager) or pressured to buy stuff.
They used a comedian in some promo who had made gags previously about DV. I think that’s the issue, but could be wider than that. I don’t know how they handled it after they were pulled up.That’s the second time I’ve seen someone cite an ethical issue with ELF here recently- what’s the issue?
I’ve always got on really well with the Nyx micro brow pencil. Been a make up bag staple for a few years for me.I'm in need of a new mascara and brow pencil. I've been using the ELF Lash N Roll and Lash Beats Mascaras and the Ultra Precise Brow Pencil. For obvious reasons I don't want to support the brand any more but am struggling to find affordable replacements. Any suggestions?
ELF have built themselves a reputation as a company that supports and empowers girls and women, partnering with planned parenthood, girls inc, girls network, sponsoring women's sport etc and making this a focus of their media. They recently released an advert featuring a male comedian who jokes about women victims of DV and made some misogynistic comments in interviews. He doesn't wear make up or have anything to do with make up so isn't an obvious choice for a make up advertising campaign alongside a drag queen, who is a more understandable choice, unless they are suggesting their concealer is so good it covers up black eyes.I think I missed the ELF controversy, what’s all that about then? Not that I use any.
Definitely a non apology. The word 'sorry' was nowhere to be seen. They don't see they've done anything wrongThe other thing with that ELF add is in the caption on Instagram they had a phone number, like you'd have for like DV hotlines and stuff. They knew what they were doing. Then they issued the most non apology, we're sorry you're offended statement ever.
What works for me - spray some spray gel/ hair spray onto a brush and sweep it through. That should hold it for youDoes anyone have a super strong brow gel recommendation? Doesn’t have to be a gel but does have to have strong hold.
ABH brow freeze and elf brow lift do not work on me. Neither do the clear mascara or tinted mascara brow wands. At this point I’m going to use a pritt stick![]()
Yuck, that is grim of them to say the least. Thank you for clarifying. I don’t have any ELF products but I absolutely won’t be seeking any out!ELF have built themselves a reputation as a company that supports and empowers girls and women, partnering with planned parenthood, girls inc, girls network, sponsoring women's sport etc and making this a focus of their media. When people called them out on using a '
comedian who is in direct opposition to their ethos and condoning DV, they made a statement that just said 'we missed the mark with this one'. Didn't apologise or take the advert down. They presumably thought rage bait would be a good advertising tactic.
benefit 24 hr brow setter is my favourite, lasts all day even through sweating (and I have ridiculously thick brow hairs)Does anyone have a super strong brow gel recommendation? Doesn’t have to be a gel but does have to have strong hold.

Yes, it feels like a really rich skin cream. I've tried a dusting of translucent powder on top which has helped. I think i like it- it looks like my skin, but just... nicer.I use the WTF Foundation too. I like it but don’t really feel it’s a foundation. It’s very rich on my skin and evens out my skin tone.
I have tried a few, I had This Works in a subscription box which was pretty good but my most recent one is the spray from Beauty Pie and I find that it’s magic. It’s a temp fix, if you don’t use it every day the effects aren’t there but then when I use it for a day or two again my neck and chest suck right in again.Looking for a good neck firming cream for my horrible Turkey neck it’s so noticeable and embarrassing
