Abscess + dental phobia + doctors won’t help

Hope you manage to get it sorted it today and some relief from the pain, I'm scared of the dentist and need to be sedated to let them near me but I had a abscess years ago and was recommended to try swishing salt water around the abscess, it did help with the pain temporarily.

I’m sorry you are suffering but this really isn’t your doctors problem. I’m a doctor, we get ZERO training in dentistry including prescribing antibiotics for dental infections. It’s like asking your plumber to have a look at your fuse box. GPS will sometimes give antibiotics to tide people over but it can actually delay people seeking dental care as it can improve their pain without addressing the underlying problem. Dentists are able to prescribe antibiotics for infections and you need a dental solution for a dental problem.

Thank you guys, they have sent a prescription for antibiotics to my local pharmacy for me to collect so I will go and collect it and then park myself on the sofa for the rest of today xx
