2026 Winter Olympic Games

Can someone advise.... the Discovery+ app isn't on my tv. Does that mean I can't add it?
I had D+ for the summer games but think I must have had it via a firestick.
Is that still the case?
Just want to check before I subscribe.

I can't get it on my TV. We don't have an aerial and it's not an app available on Virgin. If I subscribe, I need to do it on my laptop or via Amazon Prime, where it's an add on, but is an app on Virgin.

You can sign up on Amazon Prime. I'm not sure whether you can get just Discovery+ on Amazon, or whether you need all of Prime? Or if you have an aerial and you have a smart TV, you should be able to download a Discovery+ app. It's the lack of aerial that was scuppering me.

Or you can sign up on your laptop or phone, and maybe play it on the TV, depending on whether you can mirror to it?

Virgin does have the Amazon Prime app.

Oh this looks fun, there is a ski alpinism now, I think it is a new discipline, they ran uphill on skis, there are obstacles, now they are running on stairs without skis and putting them back on to run further, I guess they will go downhill later switching set up of skis so the heel is secured too.

I think it’s based on randonee which is where you walk up the mountain on skis with skins and ski down. But this looks a bit more like it’s using the ski cross type obstacles.

If you have HBO Max in your country you can check if it has Olympics offer. I guess it can be country specific, but mine has the whole coverage - when I checked today it did not demand any additional subscription on top of my regular one and the coverage of curling eliminations was working. I am not sure if it isn't just a glitch and I will need to add it to my subscription for a month, but they offer all sports, some with commentary in many languages, some just in English and I guess maybe some sessions will be without commentary (that was the case for Paris where some eliminations had no commentary but the coverage was available for everything).

The figure skating commentators seem to love pointing out the Russians since the pairs competition I’ve noticed. I’m not sure if it was kicked off by Misha winning the men’s as they pointed out that he was no Russian

Last night was the men’s single in the qualifying round. What’s on now is men’s single final. At the end of this each country will have their final score because everyone else has already done their routines.

I love that you could even see venue staff cheering for Kevin, such energetic performance, we need more divas like him

By the way, so far one of my favourite things in these figure skating competitions are these 3 people in neon safety vests and helmets I think (medical staff? venue safety staff? ) always standing somewhere near the rink, unbothered but watching, and they are well visible due to these vests and are also often in slow motion shots

Came on here to see if anyone knows what they are doing there, it's fascinating watching them watch the dancing!
