The victim blaming in this thread and the complete lack of understanding what being in an abusive relationship is like is actually disgusting.

He physically abused her so she was scared for her physical heath, he mentally abused her so she 'believed' that she deserved this treatment, that he loved her etc., There was clearly copious amounts of drugs and alcohol which he supplied which can also impair your judgement and ability to see the reality of what was going on. He had hundreds of tapes of blackmail of her doing these freak-off's that he could release to any one at any time and humiliate her.

He controlled her career and finances 100% so it's very possible she was not in a financial position to leave and he would always reel her in with the promise of new music which would potentially give her freedom.

He was one of the most connected people in the music industry and in hollywood if he blackballed her she'd have absolutely nothing.

He clearly has gang connections so she probably feared for her life if she left given what she'd seen or what she knew and he demonstrated his threats to her by blowing up Kudi's car so she knew he was a credible threat.

She was constantly surrounded by his team, by celebrities that fawned over him or relied on him so she probably thought there was no one she could really turn to for help as they were all in her pocket. These are people that watched him beat the shit out of her and did nothing so why would they help her. These people were all paid by Diddy to manipulate her and convince her that Diddy loved her when they thought she might leave.

Also can we just remember that literally LA police officers attended these freakoffs or saw the abuse first hand and did nothing. Why would she think she could or should escape when Diddy was literally connected to the police.

If you're on the side of Diddy in any way shape or form you need to take a hard look at yourself.

Cassie is amazing. Imagine being 8 months pregnant and having to relive sexual torture, re describing the humiliating details under questioning where lawyers and your rapist gaslight you into pretending it was just kink. Against an incredibly powerful, violent man with gang links. In front of the whole world.

HER STRENGTH. It makes me think of Giselle Pelicot.

My point was she said she didn't dare leave him because of the freak offs because of his threats to leak vids etc, yet she left because she saw a pic of him on ig with another woman. Wasn't petrified to leave him then was she? If she was that scared she wouldn't have left him then met him shortly after for a closure conversation. Fuck closure if you're petrified of someone u keep aware
This is a very narrow minded view of abusive relationships in general.
I also think the narrative of her leaving purely due to seeing him with other women is a bit of a poor one if I’m honest. She’d previously tried to leave due to his behaviours and had been hunted down, beaten up, threatened etc.
Him having another woman could actually have been her only “out” because he’d found a new victim.

Understanding abusive men/relationships is extremely hard if you haven’t been in one. Sadly, if they’ve found a new supply, you’re less at risk. Equally, he’d controlled her so much, he probably thought she’d be safe to let go at this point…but he still had stuff in his back pocket.

it take a woman, on average, 7 times to actually leave an abusive partner. There are many factors involved, including still feeling the betrayal of being unfaithful. As I said, abuse fucks with your head, your boundaries blur, your reality isn’t the same as ‘normal’.
I was with my abusive ex for just under a year. Looking back there were so many times I wanted to leave or I should have left but I didn’t. Then one day, I just couldn’t take any more and I did manage to leave…then I faced an onslaught of abuse/fear/threats for the next 8-12 months until he found a new partner. He’s done it to others, and similar to Cassie, they put up with a lot until he cheated. It’s more common that what you think and it’s not fair to judge from the outside

I think it's beyond pathetic how obsessed men are with sex. Do they not think of anything else? With all the wonders the world has to offer, it always comes down to their penis.

I sometimes wonder whether I'm defective or something as I just cannot relate in any way shape or form to the sheer obsession men have with sex.

This trial seems to be highlighting something that is rarely discussed: that within abusive relationships, women are often coerced into taking part in sexual acts they would never do normally. While we know this is rape, when you’re in the relationship, you often feel you have to go along with it to keep the man happy. It often involves drugs and other partners, and the taboo and shame of this is the reason women don’t speak out. Cassie is an incredibly brave woman.

Been a committed hip hop fan for 30 years. Southern (specifically Memphis) hip hop is my beloved genre about which I know stupidly nerdy amounts, but in the 90s I was following the East Coast West Coast rivalry close enough to know that Diddy was KNOWN to be a monster even back then.

Diddy effectively whipped up the deadly East-West Coast rivalry because he made a big deal of getting South Side Crip members to be his and Biggie's bodyguard when they were in Cali. This was done deliberately to antagonise Suge Knight the head of Death Row records (Pac, Snoop, Dre) as he was known to be a prominent member of the Mob Piru Bloods. Anyway I'm not going to go into all the stuff that went on because I'd be here forever and many books have been written about it already. But the upshot of that was Pac getting shot, probably by Keefe D or one of his fellow South Side Crip affiliates Terrence Brown or DeAndre Smith, probably on Diddy's say-so.

Of course 6 months later Biggie was shot in retaliation and Diddy MILKED that for YEARS, Biggie was worth more to him dead than alive and he MILKED it without morals or shame.

50 Cent has been ruthlessly calling out Diddy for years. As has Eminem. Both those guys should absolutely get their flowers now.

Anyway his White Parties and Freak Offs have been legendary throughout the years. There's a lot of silly conspiracies out there and some have been repeated on this thread, but I will say that Jay-Z, DJ Khaled and Usher also have some questions to answer IMO. And some of the better known victims of Diddy IMO are Lil Kim, Justin Bieber, Lil Baby, many more.

Abuse of women is sadly endemic in hip-hop. The women that go through it and make it (Lil Kim, La Chat, Megan) do so by basically divesting themselves from men in the industry. Those that don't end up broken like Nicki Minaj and Foxy Brown. It is getting a little better now because we are seeing a flowering of female rap and many rappers such as Cardi B, Glorilla, Latto are VOCALLY supportive of each other against male abuse.

However, abusive dynamics in relationships are sadly still excused. We all know now about R Kelly and Aaliyah but why are not more people calling out Jay-Z and Beyonce? Their official story is that they met when she was 18 and he 37 (because that's sooooo normal obviously) but nah that's not the truth, from photos and gossip columns of the time. She was more like 15.

ALL OF THE ABOVE IS ALLEGED AND MY OPINION ONLY

Jay Z and Damon Dash supposedly ‘shared’ Aaliyah as a girlfriend, which is the grossest thing ever. Who knows, I guess it’s argued that Aaliyah consented, but she was clearly vulnerable as she had only just gotten away from R Kelly.
No one would dare speak out against Jay Z though I don’t think.

He's a monster , a psychopath, I'm getting angry seeing people say why didn't she leave on social media comments. He was a freaking billionaire with infinite resources and power he blew up kid cudis car and he's very likely a murderer. He paid off people and she was probably scared he might hurt her or her family.
Don't tell me anyone wouldn't be scared to leave a psycho like that with so much power.

Nothing useful to contribute but @moldwarp I find the hip hop history stuff sooo interesting! If there are any books/documentaries you recommend please do!
Oh my. Don't let me off my hip hop leash or I will BORE you forever more lol. What era and region are you most interested in? If it's West Coast rise of gangsta rap then I highly recommend To Live and Defy in LA by Felicia Angeja Viator. It roots the rise of gangsta rap firmly in the crack epidemic and horrific police oppression of suffering Black LA communities in the 80s, and explains how gangsta rap and NWA rose up as a way to protest against all that and take back the power. It covers the FBI's attempts to silence NWA for callling out police oppression too. A very robust sociological study using primary oral sources from people who were there.

If the East-West Coast feud and the assassinations of Biggie and Pac are more your thing, then I would say there's so many vested interests and obfuscations that it's very hard to find good, neutralish reliable documentation. But I would recommend the book Welcome to Death Row by S Leigh Savidge and the accompanying documentary which you can find (in bits and pieces but you should be able to string em all together) on YouTube.

For the assassinations of Biggie and Pac, NO ONE is neutral and the book you decide to read is kinda governed by who you think did it lol. I would go for Murder Rap by Greg Kading, who was a LAPD detective brought in to re-open the Biggie case and ended up accidentally solving Pac's too. That book is the basis for the recent Netflix series, and is the most sensible/least nutty take on the whole thing, imho. Kading is the one I think gets close enough to what really happened. He also has a couple of excellent interviews on the hip hop YouTube channel, djvlad.

If you're interested in modern day gangsta rap and the tragi, constant but very interesting beefs, wars and killings, then may I recommend the YouTuber Trap Lore Ross. Despite being white and British he is respected in the streets of Chicago, NY and Jacksonville for making brilliantly sourced and meticulously researched videos on the Chicago, Bronx and Jacksonville drill scenes. But be warned a lot of the individuals he covers are extremely violent and some I would say genuinely demonic individuals so you'll need a strong stomach.

If you need anything else just let me know, I could honestly go on about this for hours but trying to keep my ND-driven hip hop nerdiness in check here 😂

Someone on the previous thread just asked about how a victim could ‘recruit’ others re human trafficking.
HT is my area of work and sadly this is extremely common.
Someone also asked why they’re detailed the abuse when it’s ’not what he is on trial for’, what do you think is involved as part of human trafficking? A lot of the behaviours that are similar to abusive relationships also take place in trafficking situations.
trafficking isn’t just about moving people from A to B. Trafficking involves a lot of deception, threats/violence, coercion etc which is the same as his behaviour towards cassie.

Coming back to the recruitment element. This will likely be one of the things that haunts cassie. She will have done this, like many other extremely questionable things, purely to survive. Abuse genuinely fucks with your head…you do things to try please your abuser. The whole first part of this trial is very relevant to the charges he faces. He is a despicable person and I hope he goes down for a long time

So glad this evil man is finally getting outed.
The rumours of his trafficking and abuse have been known for years.
Shame Kim Porter was silenced, just before she was going to write a book…doubt Usher and Bieber will speak out though. Cassie is very brave.

Just following lightly, but the details so far make my stomach turn, imagine the stench of bodily fluids in that mansion!

I’m struggling to understand how these women stayed with him after they knew if his predilection.

No matter how rich, if a man decided I was to take drugs and allow other men to abuse me for days.. I’d be bolting for the door
it’s easy to say if you’ve never been in that situation.
but when someone is one of the most powerful and influential people on the planet, who rules with violence and fear, you just pray that you make it out alive.
please don’t make statements like that, because it’s not as easy as you think to just ‘bolt for the door’.

It seems like some people on this thread don't fully understand the psychological impact of coercive control. Victims can feel emotionally attached to the very people they’re terrified of—this kind of trauma bond is a well-documented dynamic in abusive relationships. Also, let’s not forget that Diddy paid her $20 million in damages—a settlement of that size speaks volumes and amounts to a tacit admission of guilt.

Updates from today in court, from the live updates on the Daily Mail (it's still ongoing as of the time of writing):
  • Combs allegedly hit Cassie's best friend with a hanger in 2018, before settling out of court. Cassie said he also paid her friend additional cash to 'smooth things over'.
  • Cassie was shown the 2016 assault video; said he became more aggressive if ever she tried to fight back. Court was shown a selfie Cassie took with a fat lip from Combs after this assault. When Cassie said to Combs that what he did was wrong, he claimed he was being arrested.
  • Cassie would refuse to kiss escorts as she views this as an intimate thing, but Combs insisted she did. Texts were shown where Combs asked her not to take ketamine for the next 'Freak Off'. She explained to court that ketamine was her drug of choice as it helped her disassociate.
  • Combs threatened to release 'Freak Off' videos multiple times, and Cassie always worried he'd get mad enough to release them. Jury saw a text where Cassie asked him to delete any videos that he had; he said he had, but Cassie says she kept seeing videos that she thought he'd deleted.
  • Cassie became addicted to opiates as she became reliant on them to recover from the 'Freak Offs'.
  • Jury shown a text exchange where Cassie said to Combs that nothing good came out of the Freak Offs, and that he treated her as though he were Ike Turner.
  • An incident at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013 was described. After getting into a fight with Combs, Cassie didn't have a place to stay. He accused her of taking drugs from him and kicked her off the yacht they were staying on. Cassie says she left the boat without shoes, her passport, or any belongings. She ended up crashing at a hotel his employees were staying at, and on the way back to the US, he threatened to release videos of her having sex in the 'Freak Offs'.
  • Cassie identified no less than 13 male sex workers that she recruited at Combs' behest for 'freak offs' in LA, Vegas and Miami, in addition to identifying a half dozen in Tuesday's testimony. She had sex with all of them. One of them, she said, was advertised as 'The Punisher'.
  • Combs told Cassie he was going to embarrass her by releasing 'freak off' footage directly after the Cannes incident described above, and people were around them when this footage was played on his phone. After landing in New York, they went to dinner and had another 'freak off' immediately afterward.
  • A lawyer representing a witness known only as 'Jane' said her client has had 'very serious breakdown moments' in preparation for this trial. Another lawyer said his client, who shall testify as 'Mia', will testify about 'the worst things ever to happen to her, that she would otherwise have taken to the grave.'
  • Prosecution will not show videos of the freak-offs in direct examination, though its unknown if the defence will. A still image was shown of 'Mia' (written in above bullet point), who Cassie said is/was an escort they frequently used.
  • Cassie developed frequent UTIs, and due to the length of the freak-offs, she would sometimes 'perform' in them with said infections.
  • Cassie described being left with sores in her mouth from substances and friction, and how her mouth would become irritated from oral sex, oil and lubricants.
  • While she was packing to go to Drake's music festival in Canada, Combs 'scuffled' with her friends and threw her into a bed frame, leaving her with a 'pretty significant gash' above her left eye, to which Combs' security personnel took her to a plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills.
  • She text Combs a photo of her injured face after this, to which he replied "you don't know when to stop. You pushed it too far. And you continued to push. Sad."
  • Cassie described a photo of her where she is at the festival in Canada with French Montana.
  • Combs found out about Cassie's romance with Kid Cudi during a 'freak off' in LA. He went through her phone and saw emails between her and one of his staff. Combs pulled a wine bottle opener between his fingers and lunged at Cassie, 'eyes blacked out, super angry', and she got out of there.
  • Jury shown five still images of the 'Freak Offs', with evident shock on some of their faces, apparently.
  • Cassie says Combs beat and blackmailed her after finding out about the romance with Kid Cudi. He kicked her in the back, leaving her with a big bruise. Prosecution was shown an image from December 2011 that shows Cassie with bruises on her lower back and legs. Cassie went to her mother's house after the assault, but lied and told her it was the first time he had assaulted her.

I utterly despise that the term "freak off" gets bandied about so freely. As though three to four days of SA, disassociative drug taking, physical and mental abuse as well as people trafficking.

The strength Cassie has to do this whilst pregnant is super human to me.

I’m glad Beyoncé has come up because I can’t fucking stand her. The ego on that woman. She thinks she’s a powerhouse singer and while she has a decent set of pipes there is nothing unique or lovely about her voice. Her public persona is soulless and empty. I don’t admire someone who stays with a serial cheater, either. Kelly and Michelle had much lovelier singing voices but Beyoncé would never let them shine.

I’m sure there are some shady goings on around her and Jay- what I don’t know but their marriage is def all for show.

Updates I missed:

• A third alleged victim, known under the pseudonym of Jane, will likely testify by Wednesday afternoon.
• Combs’ lawyers highlighted a social media post by Mia giving birth to a fake baby in 2013, with Combs as the doctor.
Can I just say - a massive thank you for all the work your putting in with the updates ❤
