I think people are being absolute cunts, actually. Deliberately winding up a disabled woman by harassing her with DMs and then posting her responses for clout.

It’s like the popular kids at school bullying the SEN kids.

She’s definitely got the thing going on that attracted people to YouTubers in the first place ie low-fi, casual, not trying to sell you stuff in every video. The stuff they all abandoned when they professionalised

Doing like an 8 year old YouTube trend that nobody does anymore. It’s kind of refreshing?

I pray we get a grocery haul on Wednesday.

I remember being in Greece on my first holiday after the pandemic, totally pissing down outside, getting steadily more pissed on G&T whilst sheltering on the balcony and dissociating to her talking about buying 3-for-2 cauliflowers from Morrisons.

I don’t know whether I find the aversion to working funny or probably the one thing I dislike about her.

It’s sort of funny how she talks and justifies herself, but it also shows a lack of wanting to be independent and taking responsibility & accountability in her life.
Couldn’t agree more. Although I wonder how much Val discourages her? The thing about getting a job but she turned it down because it was a 6pm finish and they had tea at 5pm?

I think she’d thrive doing a college course in something like radio production and a job in media. Or even just any kind of person focussed job. You could legit imagine her working in Bon Marche! “ Y’alright love! Ohh that’s nice. Isn’t that a nice blouse, Janice? And the floral bloomers. Keep your tummy warm eh? That’ll be £29.99. Have a lovely daaaaay!”

The fact that she came back and has now seemingly subcontracted the doing of the vlogs onto Val has me howling

Not sure I’d want her around my kids with the condescending tone she uses to speak to people. Your child would come home telling you to ‘be a love’

I’m not claiming to be an expert in Cerebral Palsy, I’m not a doctor. I’m also not saying that everyone with CP has the same experience.
However, I do have a sister with CP and I do see a lot of similarities between her and Kate King.

I think a lot of people forget that CP is often as a result of a perinatal stroke in newborn babies, especially in those who are premature. Strokes cause brain damage to various extents, which can often affect emotional and psychological development. So, while you have someone with CP who might be doing really well physically (ie, Kate can walk well and has decent use of her hands), how she experiences stress, emotion regulation, frustration etc. may be a huge challenge.

With my sister, while she’s physically disabled with no leg movement and very limited arm/hand movement, her speech and intellect are very strong. That said, emotional regulation has been a lifelong issue for her. If she gets upset, she can get absolutely hysterical. It’s awful to see. Thankfully, it doesn’t happen often but it really does impact her.

We see that in adults who have strokes too- they sudden find it very hard to control their emotions.

With my sister, she spent more time with adults as a child than other kids do. Because she’s always used a wheelchair, she wasn’t always able to go places with other kids (my sister is 35- I know things are different now). Plus she had a TA in school so wouldn’t have been privvy to as many little secret playground conversations as other children as that would have meant there was an adult present. Because of that, she’s probably a bit of an old soul. Nowhere near Kate King level, but you’d definitely have noticed it when she was a child- she came across as more precocious than other children of her age.

I never bought into the Evil Val bit. Absolutely, she could come across as snippy in some clips but those were five second snapshots of their lives. She and Mick/Michael seem very dedicated to their daughter, if not a little overbearing which I think comes from a place of love and a desire to protect.

Anyway, I’m rambling but what I mean to say is that I feel very sorry that this has happened to Kate. I hope she has some support around her and can either get to the stage where she’s happy to reengage with her interests, or finds a new outlet that she enjoys.

I'm just watching her latest video on her disability in the background - it's interesting to hear her talk about it in depth. What really stood out for me though, is just how much she says Val helps her, getting dressed, washing her hair etc. I can't comment on her limitations as only they know what she is physcially capable of, but it sounds a lot like they've taken the approach of Val just filling in the gaps and doing what Kate can't as opposed to finding solutions/adaptations where possible. I worry about how she would cope and what she would do in the future, as it doesn't sound like she would be able to live alone, even in some sort of assisted living
