Okay, I'm trotting in with my horse rescue story. My son is off for his riding lesson today on Jonah, a former race horse that made NZ$12million in his career, but when he was retired was left in a paddock with little care.
The owner of the stables my son has lessons, saw Jonah wasn't getting any attention so approached Jonah's owner, who made up excuses why she didn't visit him. In the end the stable owner bought him for $200 thinking he'd just be a paddock mate.
One of the instructors rode him, and he was a beauty!
He's a darling to ride, a big softy and has given my special needs son the confidence to canter!
