I'm guessing you identify with the gender you were assigned at birth as you have never had to question "what elements of being male or female that I should identify with". What a privilege it is to not have had to experience feeling like you are in the wrong body. That you don't belong anywhere. How challenging must that be?

I don't really understand how trans people fighting to be recognised sets feminism back at all. What is the issue with being referred to as the gender you feel you are? Women aren't losing any rights because trans people are being recognised and respected.
Women are losing all our rights:
• Transwomen rapists with penises like Karen White in women’s prisons
• bio males like Fallon Fox brutally injuring women in women’s sports, or Rachel McKinnon winning everything
• rape shelters like Vancouver rape relief being defunded due to not accepting bio males
• toilets being invaded by dangerous fetishists like Jonathan/Jessica Yaniv, •women’s festivals like Michfest being shut down
• lesbians being sexually harassed and forced to date transwomen to prove they aren’t transphobic
• women losing their jobs and being arrested for having opinions
• transwomen taking scholarships, jobs and awards meant to level the playing field for women.
• statistically, transwomen retain male pattern criminality, and the strength of men, 80-90% retain their penis and have no intention of having surgery.

Is that enough for you?

Nor should you. We all need to call out ignorance and hate when we see it x
Yes we do, which is why I refuse to let you have alllll the last words with your trashing women’s rights and portraying hard facts as “transphobic”.

No one has any problem with ordinary transgender people, who are calmly living their lives as honorary members of the opposite sex. It’s the recent gender dictators who have sprung up in the last couple of years, who people take issue with.

I’ve been a long time reader of these threads but decided to post now after the great news that came from the Supreme Court this week. I am so grateful for J.K Rowling’s unstoppable determination to protect women and girls. Also her tireless work to defend gay men like myself , lesbians and bisexuals who are called sexual racists for saying we’re only attracted to biological men or women when that is our preference.

I’m glad I grew up in the 90’s cos I was obsessed with the Spice Girls and wanted to be a Spice Girl and was obsessed with women on television like characters like Bet Lynch , Rita Fairclough , Vera Duckworth and Deirdre Barlow in Coronation Street. If I was a kid in the last few years I would’ve been whipped onto puberty blockers and told I was Trans which I’ve seen happen to so many children, when I just grew up to be a gay man.

Thank you for reading if you got this far and I stand with J.K Rowling and I hate that so many gay men have made her to be an evil villain when she is an absolute heroine for everything she does. I’ve been a fan and loved her since I read Philosophers Stone in 1997 , she created a world that I still escape to even today.

And I know this thread is a bit of an echo chamber. I usually try and sit on my fingers when reading stuff I disagree with here, as I know it'll lead to a pile-on, but sometimes I can't help myself! I'll stop now, though. :D
I don’t join in with this thread much, and don’t do any real life GC stuff, as I’m not terfy enough for the proper terfs (I believe in a very small proportion of people being “tru trans”) but I’m way too terfy for the TRA side (because I recognise that there are numerous cases where predators have adopted a trans identity to get easy access to predate on women and children and traumatise them, and I know the importance of single sex spaces to allow women to thrive in patriarchal society). But I’m adding my 2p worth here today because you’re coming across as increasingly disingenuous. It’s not an “echo chamber” here, it’s a bunch of people from a variety of backgrounds (including other gay men!) who all recognise the mission creep that’s causing harm to women, children, and homosexual people of either sex. You and others like you are just ignoring us when we’re explaining what the problems are and why we think it’s important to maintain single sex spaces and activities. You’re just ignoring us.

It’s plain rude, if nothing else, to refuse to listen to us, to actually hear what we’re saying, when we’re earnestly sharing our experiences and concerns. Rude to dismiss those concerns as an echo chamber.

Maybe you could think about why so many different types of people have the same opinions on this? It’s not because we’re ignorant - quite the opposite, I’d suggest that many of us probably know far more about the dangers of predatory males for example, than those who are determined to pretend there is no possible danger in eliminating boundaries for women and children.

It’s also disconcerting for me - a bisexual woman who’s always had gay and lesbian friends, who’s seen the abuse they’ve been subjected to, even from their own families - that so many people want to handwave away conversations about the inherent homophobia in so much of the trans movement. It’s just not right to try and guilt or gaslight homosexual people into accepting people with opposite-sex bodies as potential partners. And please don’t pretend for a moment that isn’t happening because I’ll come back with a hundred links - when we’re at the stage where there are instructional videos for gay men to learn to eat pussy, when lesbians are being taught mindfulness techniques to learn to receive penetration with a “female” penis, then surely even the most tone deaf trans activist needs to accept there’s a problem here? It’s sick, in my opinion, I grew up in the 80s and 90s and 2000s, and gay and lesbian people were finally gaining the right to simply be gay and lesbian and get on with their lives. As a teenager and in my twenties I joined my friends at Pride to support them in trying to get that acceptance and understanding (and you know what, even my working-class observant-Christian parents were supportive of me going to Pride, they would give me the money for my one-day travelcard before I was working/could afford my own train tickets) - and that hard won right is being shat all over by the trans movement insisting that males are women now and females are men now. I know lesbian uni students who literally don’t go out to anything social at uni now because every single time, they get hit on by males larping as lesbians and they don’t know how to deal with it without getting cancelled in their social circles. The harm being done is real, in those cases to young women who don’t yet have the confidence to say no.

And I would need to do a whole separate post to go through the harm being done to young autistic women and survivors of SA by this; I’m autistic/a survivor and would 100% have been sucked into it if I was a teenager, and I’ve cried so many times reading accounts from detransitioners because I know full well that could easily have been me, so I really really feel their agony.

It’s awful and it’s even more awful that there are people actively pretending there’s no harm in any of this.

This thread is a wide cross section of people, some of us old school lefties (I’m in that bracket fwiw), some of us pretty much tories, some of us libertarian, some of us authoritarian, some of us completely apolitical. There are mums, dads, child free people, grandparents, aunts, uncles. There are straight, bi, gay, and lesbian people. This thread - and gender critical dialogue generally - is not populated by people who think the same and won’t talk to anyone they disagree with. It’s populated by people who see where the trans activists’ focus has taken us and who are alarmed, not least by the lack of discussion and debate on the fundamental issues that has been permitted until very recently. We need to be allowed to talk about it and about why it’s important to acknowledge that trans activism isn’t some harmless movement.

So with the greatest respect to you, if you’re going to continually post on this thread from the opposite viewpoint to the majority of posters, at least give us the respect of being open and honest about your stance, instead of being disingenuous and sealioning about it all. I have agreed with some things you’ve posted elsewhere, including on the LGB thread, so please don’t make the mistake of thinking I’m anti-you - I just don’t like falseness. I don’t think many of us who post or lurk on this thread do. Please just be more real and genuine here and you’ll get more respect, even if it is by way of a ferocious disagreement. If you’re confident in your right-ness then you’ll have no problem defending it.

Baby steps. I'd personally be delighted to bin the term 'cis-gender' and condemn the she/her, they/them, he/him in work signatures to the bottom of the bad fire.

My first thread creation, not sure what the etiquette is with starting new threads, so if I've trod on anyone's toes in doing so, I apologise whole heartedly and for my penance will educate myself so I can be stunning and brave in the future.

A woman is born, not worn. Keep on TERFing witches!

I haven't posted in a while, not sure if anyone remembers but my daughter has been "trans" for the last 5yrs. She has recently informed me she's "been thinking about gender, and I don't think it really matters to me. I like wearing dresses and feeling pretty. I don't know if I'm entirely comfortable with being referred to as femme but I don't mind it anymore" and then when I asked why it ever mattered to her she replied "I guess I was just so self righteous and yeah.."

Progress people!! My daughter is coming out of the cocoon of doom she's been stuck in for years 😊 my 2026 has been made

Well I have just fallen out with both my daughters over this. They both want nothing to to do with me from now on. I am utterly shocked that they both have been brainwashed so much that they truly believe that excluding men from our spaces that I am "transphobic" and not that I support women and our rights. I am being told they wish I'd never birthed them and I am now dead to them as a mother and they want nothing more to do with me. I have bought them up as a single parent and I feel utterly bereft right now.

A rare common sense ruling in today's world :)

This one thread existing is the cause of so many death threats against me (being the most visible mod) and this thread is often called vile hate speech.

Hi all. I’ve lurked until now but wanted to stick my head above the parapet with the FA’s announcement this morning
I work within football and for a long time I’ve had to be very careful professionally with my words and responses to men pretending to be women who expect and often demand to be able to play in women’s football.

Im so fucking pleased

Coming up to a year this week when my 12yr old told us he had gender dysphoria completely out of the blue. What a year it's been!!

Saw a school therapist (who he had told first) who referred me to a mermaids type charity and on reading the website I just felt it didn't sit right with our family and our situation. She told me to put girls clothes in his wardrobe for him to wear at home. As a huge LGBT ally, I really struggled with my feelings on the subject. I wanted to be supportive and for a few weeks I contemplated leaving my marriage as my husband just said flat out no and buried his head in the sand and refused to even entertain the idea.

The trans acceptance I was peddled just didn't sit right with me though. I knew I had to protect my son who up to this point had never ever appeared gender non-conforming. So out of character. He was shy, not sporty, introverted, and had recently started upper school and found himself with a group of friends who were all mentally ill and struggling with their identity....but this didn't mean he was actually a girl?!

We told him that we loved him, we were sorry he felt so uncomfortable with his body in puberty, that it was normal and that we were not going to let him identify as someone else, change pronouns, clothes etc. I felt like the worst mother in the world. I barely slept for months with the worry.

I found this thread which was a lifesaver. Did my research. Stuck to our guns. Horrified by stories from detransitioners. Educated myself to the actual horror of transitioning medically and how just that first step is a slippery slope. Binged podcasts on the subject.

Fast forward a year and he is still a boy. We have had some wobbles but we have showered our son with so much love...we have convinced him he is normal, we've encouraged him to use his body in new ways (swimming, long walks etc), he has naturally gravitated away from that group of friends, he makes silly jokes about willies etc and we all laugh. I have stopped verbally hating on men so much (as a staunch feminist I have to remind myself that two people I love the most - him and his dad- are male) and generally things seem normal.

I heard on the Gender: A Wider Lens podcast that you don't ask a person recovering from an eating disorder how their anorexia is so I don't bring it up with him ever. He only ever spoke about it 4 times with us in the last year....3 times over text message and one forced face-to-face. I sometimes wonder if it was real or a horrible dream.

Not sure of the point of this....just to give some comfort to lurkers of this thread who may not be strong enough to post. There is a way to hopefully get through this. And between the laughable posts about AGPs and dodgy MP candidates there are real NORMAL families struggling with what to do when their kid out of the blue says that they are the wrong gender and I want them to know they are not alone.

This is a bit of a rant, just to get it off my chest. I'm so sick of seeing women pander to these blokes. I'm a recovering alcoholic and I'm part of a Facebook group exclusively for women in recovery. This bloody bloke/ stunning and brave trans woman (🙄) posts a smug little selfie on a daily basis, and the comments are absolutely unbelievable.

All the actual women who post might get a handful of likes and even less comments. This bloke will literally get hundreds and hundreds of likes and comments, all fawning over him and going out of their way to make sure he knows they see him as a woman. "You go girl!" "Omg your curls are AMAZING, sister!" "Love seeing other women doing well!" "That blouse is AMAZING on you!" "Girl, I wish I had your hair!" and so on and so on. It's actually embarrassing to see them all falling all over themselves to heap relentless praise on him, especially considering they don't bother to show anywhere near that level of support to actual women. One of them posted she'd been sober for 10 years today, and got 8 likes and about two comments ffs. Yet this bloke shouldn't even be in the group in the first place, doesn't take his sobriety seriously so we get daily "sober for x amount of days" until around a month, when he won't post for a few weeks and then we get "Sober for a day today!", never bothers to respond to anyone's over the top supportive comments, and surprise surprise doesn't ever comment on other people's posts offering support to anyone else. Yet another example of a bloke using a women's space to validate his "girlness" and stroke his own ego.

I'm so sick of seeing women do this to ourselves. Why are we so desperate to fall at the feet of these men, at the complete detriment to other women, who we don't even offer a fraction of the support to.

While I'm ranting, I'm also sick to death of women seeing drag queens and gleefully exclaiming "He looks better in a dress than me!" "I wish I had legs like that!" Why are we so desperate to tell men they're better than us, and better at being us?

Thanks, I feel better now 😂

I am so glad I discovered this thread. I admit, for a while I saw ‘Gender discussion’ and was worried it would be promoting this madness so was too scared to look

my brother, formerly a TIM, decided he was transgender as a late teen. It was absolute madness, all because he got caught up in the cult, my mother and I were the only ones to see through the madness. Since then he met a TIM, who is now a ‘woman’, he decided he’s a man again as that’s what this partner wants, and they’ve moved to another country an 8 hour flight away.

I’m due with my third baby in September and after learning my due date, they’ve announced their wedding for 5 days later. I’m quite glad of the excuse not to go as I wouldn’t be anyway, but my parents will now be halfway across the globe attending when we’ll be needing family support. My brother and his partner have said it’s selfish of any of us to find anything wrong with it. It’s all for attention. Very weird lifestyle they live. Hubs is furious about it but not like we can do anything.

I can’t express my views to them openly for my own safety. A man at my brother’s place of work made an off the cuff joke about the woke cult of madness, my brother pulled him outside for a talk and demanded an apology, when the man apologised he gripped him by the arm and said if he did it again he’ll ’break your fucking neck.’

It’s horrible and awful and I can’t believe even my mother, who is usually so switched on when it comes to women’s rights, is now condoning this because at least my brother isn’t trans anymore.

Anyway, rant over. The Supreme Court ruling brought me SO much joy, and the government in my country have now advised the ministry of health to use women specific terminology with regards to pregnancy and breastfeeding now, no more of this ‘pregnant person’ crap. The tide is turning. In the meantime I’m so glad this thread exists!!! Just goes to show most of us do not condone the erasure of womanhood, even if the vocal minority make it appear that way online. Xxx

I'm hoping that the SC ruling, Sandie winning, then the Darlington nurses will help to topple the TWAW pile of cards. I'm just sorry for all the brave women who've had to stand up in this fight.

This exactly ❤
I don’t normally post on this thread because I have this simmering rage inside me and I would probably just end up boring everyone rigid with my rantings.

But … I would just like to say this to these TWAW morons …

I was never an evil person till you decided that I was.
I never cared if you were gay or trans or simply wanted to be a man in a dress until you started shoving it into my and my children’s faces.
I never cared if your beliefs were different to mine until you started telling me that mine were wrong.
Now I care!!
My patience and tolerance are long gone.
I’m not alone in feeling in this way. There are millions of us who do and we have had enough 🤬

So shove that up your hairy arses towards your prostates Sirs.

See, I told you I’d rant 😖

Carry on all x

Well ladies in amongst all the celebration I have been left with a feeling of deep sadness because it has signalled the end of a 50 year friendship.
A girl I met on the 1st day of primary school & lived 5 doors away when I was growing up. We haven't lived in the same city since she moved for uni at 18 but managed to stay friends even before social media.
When her 1st husband cheated on her & she was going through a divorce, I was there for her 100%. When her mother died I was there for her & until recently would give her parents gravestone a clean up when I was passing by.

In the last 6 months or so I have been reflecting on our friendship after I discovered she had been in the area several times & never got in touch.
I realised that I have put up with her patronising me for years.
We both are privately educated, but she always made out that her school was far superior to mine. I always deferred to her, especially when it came to politics, as she can speak much more confidently on most subjects.( She was a member of the communist party until they chucked her out & then she joined the labour party under Corbyn & stood as an MP, she has always been heavily involved in unions). She definitely influenced my socialist leanings.
When I really thought about it I realised, she never came to my child's funeral, or my parents joint funeral. I travelled 450 miles when her mam died.
I have a very small Facebook friends group of family & very select friends.
Yesterday she posted "Despite what the supreme Court say, we all know Trans women are women". It was the final straw ladies. I deleted her.
It has made me very sad.

I've been dipping into this thread in and off, I've never seen myself as particularly gender critical, and most definitely not a Terf.

My feeling has always been, a man is a man and a woman a woman, but if Harry wants to don a frock and call himself Sally, as long as it doesn't effect me, let him crack on

Over the last year, 18 months or so my feelings have changed.
I'm not sure if it's old age (approaching 43 😂) making me less tolerant or what it is but I'm becoming really aware of how trans rights, and appealing to the trans community is seen as the most important thing irregardless of anything else and even its not needed. And they are trampling over woman and rights they have fought for to do this it's wrong.

I don't want to share toilets, changing rooms with men, I don't want to be trying bras on and see a cock bulge. Woman should not have to feel uncomfortable to appease a few

Men don't menstruate. They don't need period products. Woman used to have to hide away at that time, as it was seen as dirty and gross to talk about. There was a limited range of uncomfortable impractical products. That's changing after years and years of woman innovating and fighting for change, and guess what men now want a go..

Men are biologically stronger than woman, they should not be allowed to join in sports. It's a fact.

I don't need the places I buy my toothpaste, trainers or tomatoes from to be all political about trans rights. I just want to follow them of social media to be advised or new products or sales not anything else

Infact so many companies, my employer included have gone on the trans bandwagon. I'd ignored the suggestion we used pronouns, but the other month our PC/laptop screen savers were changed to a pink/blue montage highlighting "our" support for trans causes, internal communications magazines are banging on about trans "issues" far more regularly than is representive of the minute amount trans people that are employed the company.
Its incessant. I declined the new rainbow lanyard (the one with the pale blue, pink, brown triangle on the standard rainbow) and was told it was expected of the management team to wear them... I didn't, and haven't, but have been asked a few times why, and if I need one.

This is really waffly.. But is suppose what I'm saying is I'm now one of you
