I did chuckle when the stuck up girls at the hen were portrayed exactly like all the influencer dickheads we comment on on Tattle 😉 Ruth knows! Hahaha!

Woke up thinking about it and hope this makes sense! I absolutely loved it, but also loved how we saw nessa, who has been through so much, show her admitting she was struggling, like when she wanted bail out on going to the hen, talking to Stacey in the garden and needing to clear her head her head on the ship. Feel like she would be the friend you’d forget to ask how they were because they always seemed ok.

Really hope that makes sense!

I feel quite upset that this is the last one.

the last Xmas special I watched in Australia and I had just started shagging my housemate. Now I’m in England, he’s snoring and farting next to me and I’ve a ring on my finger. 😭

Everyone saying they don't see why the show can't go on...because after 2 more seasons you'll be saying why is this still going on 🤣 stories are wrapped up and it's a nice ending, much better than so many shows these days getting cancelled out of no where so left on cliffhangers. Also do you want the older actors to work to their death??? Larry Lamb deserves to retire 💓

I loved that and I totally see why James and Ruth said that was the end of the story - it was Smithy and Nessa’s love story we’ve been watching for seventeen years and that was the perfect ending to their story.

It’s not always the case that a TV series has a fitting ending so I love that that episode left me excited to rewatch the show over and over in the years to come.

I look at it like this - has James Cordon had a negative affect on my life with his diva behaviour? No. Has he co-written one of my favourite shows and brought me some happiness? Yes! So truth be told, at the end of the day, I don’t really give a shit what he’s like in person!

The best thing about Gavin and Stacey in it’s entirety for me is the acceptance and love all the characters have for each others quirks, and Smithy despite being a typical lad turns out to be the antithesis of toxic masculinity in the end…a brilliant dad, a loving friend and he finally leaves his vanity at the door when he declares himself for Nessa instead of Sonia. Even Budgie and Dirtbox end up being nice sensible blokes and Gavin always was. I loved that Dawn shagged Chinese Alan though 😄

The actress who played Sonia was amazing - only in two episodes yet made such an impression 😂 The mad eyes and fixed manic grin. Wonderfully ghastly.

Anyone else think they've been incredibly lucky with Oscar Hartland?
Originally chosen for being a baby that slightly resembled Smithy, he now looks like a good mix of Smithy and Nessa, can act well enough for his age and experience, and can do the lovely instrumental/singing part too!

Loved it when Smithy threw himself down the stairs to try and break his arm because that was going to be easier than telling Sonia he had overslept.

Ah what an emotional ending! I think Dave Coaches was brought back as a reminder of when Smithy crashed Nessa and Dave’s wedding because for the ending to be believable we have to remember Nessa’s love for Smithy is reciprocated. Also he’s just a really fun character so why not 😄

I feel quite sad that something so of its era and frequently quoted by people around my age has finished. I now know why my mum used to spend Christmas nights watching the same old TV shows on repeat on UK Gold…that’s what my kids will think of me in five or ten years watching Gavin and Stacey! Yet another step into middle age 😅

I’m still sobbing 😭😭

Such a lovely ending, we all broke down in my house when Mick stood up for Smithy. The way he described their relationship at the stag was the way my father speaks about my best friend (who was also here with us and not with her own family, says it all 🤣)

I’m also glad Gwen got her happy ending and Dave. He was a lovely character and I was disappointed he didn’t appear in the 2019 special.

Just absolutely loved it, can’t wait for the New Year’s Day special

I know it was supposed to be a very solemn moment Mick stood up at the wedding but the look on his face was v Archie Mitchell 🤣
