Sorry to go all mumsnet but I need advice! My kids are going through a very fussy phase and I'm totally out of ideas!?
So please tell me what meals your kids eat all up without fail 🙏
Please no comments about how I am pandering to my kids, spoiling them or 'making a rod for my own back 😂 hence why I didn't go to mumsnet xx

how old are your kids?

mine is only 2 and generally eats well and has what we have

Stuff she loves, italian style foods, we make a lot of wrap pizzas and various pasta dishes, lasagne

Chilli con carne, curries- esp if made with coconut milk.

Jacket potato with all toppings.

meatballs with mash and gravy

My 2.5 year old loves and will generally always eat chicken korma with special fried rice, spag bol, sausage and mash with broc/peas, veggie risotto, fajitas but with all the bits separated, pizza pizza pizza, ploughman’s lunch plate, fish of any kind with potato fries and veg, sweet potato fries and of course pesto pasta with goats cheese/cheddar.

He absolutely hates roast dinners (dunno how he’s my child) and any kind of dinner that has the meat not mixed into the pasta/sauce/dish. He’s never been a big meat eater xx

She’s 3 and we eat the same stuff like:

Sausage casserole
Spaghetti bolognese
Homemade Lentil soup (we’re Scottish)
Shepherds Pie

In this weather I make the above stuff.

Sometimes we’ll have a ‘tea party’ just to switch things up. Just the way things are presented can get her to eat more - party plates etc. Picky things are always a hit too.

They're both under 3. Used to be amazing eaters but something just switched and now its just pizza or toast 🤷‍♀️

Same! My two year old only wants to eat cheese?! I'm trying not to worry. She's eaten spag bol tonight and think that's usually a winner

Sometimes it’s just a phase. One of mine did it when he was about two, he had always been a good eater up till then but suddenly just stopped eating any variety. Loking back it was probably an attention seeing device ( I was having to work full time for a few months after only doing three days a week and he had to go into nursery) and I made it worse by panicking and doing all I could to coax him to eat. Eventually we just stopped fussing, gave him his meal (the same as the rest of the family) and took it away without comment if he didn’t eat it but not offer an alternative dinner. It was hard as I was worried about him being hungry but the phase passed and he went back to eating well after a couple of weeks

This is it! I do make it worse for myself as I get so worried about them being hungry that I'm constantly giving them bits of fruit etc throughout the day and then wonder why they don't eat meals 🤦‍♀️ i feel like such a tit mum constantly giving pizza etc but its the only type of thing they're guaranteed to always eat and I don't have enough money to keep try and testing different meals for them to just end up in the bin

I was that smug mum with my first two, they ate all sorts and were so easy to feed. I did baby led weaning and they were eating all sorts of cuisines and I smugly gave myself a pat on the back.

Then I had my third. He was the same initially but then suddenly stopped liking anything. He eats pasta pesto, pizza, sausages, peas and sweetcorn, fish fingers and chicken goujons. For lunch he has either a peanut butter sandwich or dairylea on crackers. He only eats red grapes, banana, oranges or apples. We've given up. As long as he is eating we are happy.

Casseroles, roasts, pasta, pita bread filled with flavoured chicken one week- the next a handful of popcorn or some grapes! Food is a constant battle in this house!

It’s really hard to do but if you can stick to it they will eat eventually! My son once went through two days when all he had was half a packet of crisps! I knew he was hungry but he was (and still is!) a stubborn little devil and he just would not admit he wanted anything. I tried everything: coaxing, bribing, offering alternatives, even getting cross and threatening to take away a favourite toy or tv programme. The only thing that worked was staying calm, ignoring the lack of eating and removing the plate without comment. Good luck

To be fair this is still amazing in comparison to some - the fact he eats anything fruity/vegetably is still great! The little girl I nanny for eats chicken nuggets and butter sandwiches only, occasionally some crisps/grapes/cucumber but absolutely nothing else. It’s terrible, the parents have tried everything!

It's by fluke, nothing else.

I really found My child Won't Eat by Carlos Gonzalez very reassuring

Same! I'm right there with you. Bloomin nightmare made worse by lockdown too x

My eldest has issued with textures, so he has a very limited diet. Keep offering food as normal! They'll come round eventually.

I used to be so smug aswell 😅 oh how times have changed

My stepdaughter is 5 she won't have anything with slightly overdone bits I get its "dirty".
Turkey Sunday dinner (but called chicken) with loads of mash, a few green beans carrots peas loads of broccoli. With two yorkshire pudding with all the over done bits left with gravy.
Week nights pizza or nuggets (both with chips) or cheese pasta with beans or mixed veg or corn on cob. Then has to have a pudding. then 20minutes before bed has to have a slice of toast because she's hunrgy even though she had tea and ate the lot maybe a hour and half ago.

I have 4 completely different tastes!

My eldest teen lad, will eat absolutely anything. He travelled with me alot as a small kid and would always try local cuisine with no question so he has quite a global palette. His absolute favourite is a good old Chilli Con Carne. He will go back for 3rds and 4ths.
.
My 12 year old is autistic and will only eat cold pasta dishes and will only eat other foods if they have come from a takeaway. Refuses from anywhere else. Tuna pasta is his favourite.

My 10 year old is very beige or strong meat dishes. He likes a steak or pulled pork.

My 1 year old will eat anything but seems to show a preference for anything Italian.

I have 3 and they're frankly arseholes to feed 😭🤣 None of the breastfeeding and baby led weaning seems to have made an iota of difference! They're 12, 10 and 7 now and I don't stress about it anymore as it doesn't do anything but ruin my mealtimes. I was fairly fussy as a child yet eat pretty much anything these days. Mine eat really well at breakfast and lunch so I didn't have to worry so much about hunger, they just aren't that keen on proper meals I suppose.

The thing that always has gone down well here is what they call "hand dinners", pretty much like a mini buffet. I'll put various things in it like bread and butter, chunks of cheese, raisins, various fruits, pizza pinwheels that I make myself, yoghurt, mini sausages/sausage rolls, slices of ham etc.

Also I make vats of homemade soup, middle isn't hugely keen but will still eat it but the other 2 go mad for it. So long as it's blitzed they don't care what's in it (and I put all sorts of veg and pulses in). They'll have it with bread and butter or toasties which makes it more palatable.
