Wooden front door

This is a really random thread but I need a new front door. A wooden one. I have been quoted ridiculous prices from £1500 to £2000 for a wooden door, nothing at all fancy. All I want is a standard door with a letter box 🤣
Something like this photo
My dad says he can fit a door so we just need to buy one. B&q had them for around 500 but they’ve gone now.

Anyone had a wooden door recently? I really didn’t expect it to be such a hassle! I don’t want composite as it doesn’t suit the style of house

Thanks

I bought one quite a few years ago for a previous house, I struggled to get one without by glass and found the quality varied a lot. I remember the door being expensive as I bought a good quality one, we fitted it ourselves

We have a wooden front and back door. When we moved in I was blasting on about replacing them... until I researched the price of flipping doors. So, my perfectly sturdy snd fine wooden ones will be staying. May just tart the handle and letter box up.
Good luck! Every place I looked was £1000-1500 for a decent wooden door. Only the upvc ones were cheaper.

We’ve just bought one for our new house from Leader doors sure it was around £300. It’s not up yet though as we’ve been painting it x

When you say wood, d'you mean composite? I had a fire door composite fitted three years ago (fire engine red) for nine hundred. South Wales prices.

Do you have building recycle stores near where you are? You can pick up great bargains at those ... look beyond the peeling paint and chips; just imagine bringing it back to life.

We have a composite door that looks like wood. My neighbour has a wooden door and he's forever faffing with it as it swells in summer, he also restains it every year.

Ime composite doesn’t look like wood, despite the wood grain effect. Even the good/pricey ones don’t ‘pass’. I appreciate that they have lots of good qualities in terms of insulation, security and low maintenance and can be a good option but IMO aesthetically, they don’t work on lots of buildings.

We had an old wooden front door and it swelled so much we couldn’t open it at all, it was crap. I wanted a wooden one just because I thought it would look nicer, but opted for a black composite door in the end. Our new door was £1,300 but that included triple glazing in the glass sections and a glass window at the top above the door. Expensive, but I’m really happy with it. It has good sound-proofing and safer locking system.

Wow that seems cheap! Out of London I presume?
