Wishing For Simpler Times

Thanks to the pandemic I have found myself really wishing for simpler times... I am almost 28 but found I have been having LOADS of dreams where I am a kid or back in my childhood home. I definitely am feeling nostalgic for being a child which may sound strange, lol. Is anyone else feeling something similar? I went onto Youtube and ended up down a rabbit hole of tv shows from my childhood.

I spend a lot of my time watching old TV shows, I'm very nostalgic, at the moment I'm watching the last season of the 60's show "The Avengers".

In fact I've been doing this for decades, when dvd came along I started collecting, I have so many boxsets and best of all I can watch them over and over again so I'm getting value for money.

I have boxsets of Bewitched, Friends, and a few other good shows.

Mine is more Sci-Fi based, but I do have a lot of those old Children's shows from the 70's

I am feeling so nostalgic too and I am a few (many) years older than you. I ache for some normality back in my life. I also dream about my childhood home and for some reason I am running around with a duster cleaning everything.

Interesting... I am sure it is something to do with psychology. I had a dream I was on my grandparent's street with all my childhood friends and that Disney had put on a fireworks display, lol.
Things are getting so bad, I am listening to S Club Juniors . Tbh I feel like my childhood was yesterday. It is mad how fast time passes.

I agree, its definitely psychology. I have had recent dreams that I am a little girl pushing a dolly in a pram along the street I grew up in. I haven't lived there for 29 years . I feel sad when I wake up and the feeling stays with me most of the day

Yes, I wake up feeling sad after those kind of dreams. I've not lived in my hometown for well over 10 years now.

Just watched The spider in the bath . I'm familiar with the rugrats but hadn't heard that song before. I love it, its so sweet. I must admit, I had a little smile on my face listening to it

I’ve spoken to my therapist a bit about this because I’ve been struggling with my mental health during the pandemic. She says it’s common for people, even those who don’t have mental health problems, to feel a pull back to things from their youth that they enjoyed. It’s like snuggling up to your favourite toy or blanket, it’s comforting, it’s warming. It’s going back to a ‘simple’ time where there wasn’t all these responsibilities and you could be carefree.

Sometimes I think I would like to go back to when my children were small. I was watching a little’un at work today (sports club) and he was chatting away to his mum and I felt really nostalgic for those times. Mine are grown up now and in their late teens and twenties, I think I’m wearing rose coloured specs because I’m sure when they were little it wasn’t all roses
