You’ll hear them no trouble. Assuming you’re the mum (and no shade to dads), it’s just in built to hear them, no matter what other noise there is.

My husband wouldn’t hear our kids if they screamed in his ear while he slept. Yet I can hear them every time they turn over in bed.

White noise is compulsory in this household too 😊
Could you set up the room so that the white noise isn't directly beside the monitor?
I have white noise at one side of baby and the monitor at the other, that way it clearly picks up baby noises & the white noise is in the background for baby.

My son is three and he still has white noise on...we are currently phasing it out slowly by turning the volume down each night.
The video monitor that we have picks up the noise so I used to mute the handset but still be able to look at the screen. I only use the handset if he stirs in the night now. (The joys of a sleep talking child 😂)

His bedroom is just across the hallway from our room so we keep his door shut but ours open. I promise you will hear 💖
Maybe test with a day nap to make sure you can hear just for peace of mind? Also can you mute your monitor? Mine used to have a light that constantly flickered when it picked up the white noise but it would be a solid light when he cried.

Looking for advice re hearing baby stir while white noise is playing.

Currently have baby in my room and no issues hearing them over the white noise. I am looking to move them into their own room at the weekend but am really worried I won’t hear them until they are properly crying (currently wake at the slightest snuffle, which is in itself a problem lol). The rooms are next to each other and would leave doors open. I do have a baby monitor but annoyingly it picks up the white noise so there is constant background noise.

Is there any way to stop the white noise coming through the baby monitor??

Please reassure me I’ll hear the baby from the next room with the white noise on!!

No chance of turning the white noise off as they just will not sleep without it!

Thanks for any advice given 🥰

Thanks for the replies!

Agree about their dad sleeping through everything 🤦‍♀️

I don’t have the monitor and white noise machine particularly close together but will try them further apart to see if this helps. The monitor we’ve got shows flickering lights, occasionally the ‘top’ volume one lights up with the white noise but only stays on when they are crying. I had read that monitors don’t pick up the white noise if you turn on the monitor when the white noise is already on, this would be so much easier if it was true! From these replies I think I may as well mute the monitor, and just use the video element when I hear them stir.

Can definitely hear them during the day over the white noise just wondering when I’m asleep HOW much noise they will have to make before I hear them if that makes sense?? As at the moment I wake up before any crying etc. I guess I’ll just have to bite the bullet!
