The Devils Arse

Hello!

At the risk of seeming ever so boring, any recommendations for a white paint in the bedroom? Have white furniture and black bedding. Looking for a cool white with no yellow or grey undertones (just spent the last year degreying/dehinching the house. I swear the previous owner was a fan)

Eta - the title looks dreadfully dull and I can't work out how to change it. Is white paint ever exciting?!

I think you probably want to think about your budget as well. Our flat is painted with delux brilliant white, and is just the whitest of the white, so it somewhat suit our new build flat. Farrow and ball do a range of nice white too.

I just painted my bedroom Cotton White from Dulux. I would recommend you get several testers paint onto a board or something and move around the room. Whites can look completely different in different lighting.

Don’t use farrow & ball paint. It’s over priced crap. Go to a Dulux or Valspar paint centre and ask for their advice and get samples, then get them to provide the paint.

Decorating Centre Online is BRILLIANT for paint. They will colour-match basically any colour from any 'designer' paint brand in a range of finishes. I recently got a colour-match from them in the standard wall paint and it's the best quality paint I've ever used, it only needed one coat and went on like a dream. The Valspar colour-matched sample I got from B&Q was really runny in comparison.

Shade-wise, if you don't want yellow or grey undertones then Pure Brilliant White is your best bet, but Timeless or Rock Salt by Dulux or Wevet by Farrow & Ball would be good if you didn't want to go down the WHITE white route.

I have a tester of timeless and it looked yellowy on my wall!

Thinking about just doing it in pure Brilliant white as at least i know what colour it is!

Weird - it does't look yellowy at all on mine, but maybe it depends on the direction of light in the room? It would be worth trying to track down samples of Rock Salt/Wevet - they're both 'cool' whites but not as bright as PBW. Depends what you're after.

Could well be, I think it will be difficult as half the room is in sunshine, the other half doesn't get any sun. I'll try those two - thank you! X

We’ve used Dulux Cotton White too. It’s now my go to white. It’s very white with no undertones but isn’t quite as bright as Pure Brilliant.
I have used Timeless before and it was very cream (to me)

If you haven't picked a colour already, I've used Ivory White by Dulux. For me it's the perfect white, neither cool or warm. Pure brilliant white can be very stark, I like it, but it totally depends on your furniture and style! Good luck!
