James Bulger for me too, god rest his soul.

Also the recent one about the necropheliac who abused 100 bodies, including one of a 9 year old child. Gut wrenching.

The murder of Michaela McAreavey in Mauritius 💔 I always think of her around this time of year as both her wedding anniversary and death fall around the end of December/start of January. I can’t believe it’s over 10 years now.

That was about the same time when the plane crashed on the road near our airport here in the East Midlands.
Yes. I think that was about 2 weeks later iirc (I’m East too) I was only little and my dad was on the tv with Lockerbie, took it to the military base then it was onto the storage facility. He was an aircraft recovery specialist but usually did stuff abroad or at least went away for a week or so when he worked. We rarely had local stuff. I can remember it coming on the news about kegworth and just being really frightened and sad. It was suddenly more than my dad going away to work, it was like work was coming here.

The murder of Kris Donald. I was only young at the time but I remember crying when I read all of the horrific details. I still get a knot in my stomach when I think about it.
I remember this. I was having my hair done and picked up the Sun to read while I was waiting. I could barely hold back the tears as the hairdresser was chatting to me. I collapsed in sobs when I got home. It was very downplayed too due to the sensitive circumstances.

Another one was a programme I watched on how the murder of a family affects their relatives. It was about a mother grieving for her son Lee. He was just at a nightclub in Germany minding his own business when one of the doormen attacked him, killed him & they carried him out and dumped him on the pavement. It was on CCTV. In court the doorman/men showed no remorse. I forget the details. I couldn't stop crying at his plight, I was so angry to be part of what we call humanity. Sickened and I could not get out of my mind the innocence if Kris & Lee robbed of their lives by such evil.

In Ireland,
A man who was supposedly deceased for up to 2 days, was yesterday brought to the post office by a relative and the relatives friend (supposedly with addiction issues) to collect the deceased persons pension (approx €200) . The person who served them realised the man was clearly not well and the gardai and emergency services were called.

It'd like Weekend at Bernie's.

I heard a voice note that’s going round on WhatsApp about this earlier today and didn’t believe it until I read that link!

Anything involving children because it seems even more heartbreaking ; Sara Payne, Holly and Jessica, James Bulger, the School shooting in Dunblane

The recent case in Ireland of Ashling Murphys murder I think has resonated with so many people. It has reminded me so much of other heartbreaking cases like Jill Meagher in Australia, Karen Buckley in Glasgow, Nicola Furlong in Japan and Michaela McAreavey to name but a few. Just so heartbreaking.

Will the Claudia Lawrence case ever be solved? God forgive me for saying this but I always thought her late father had something to do with her disappearance. He always appeared smiley when talked about her at press conferences. I hope she is found either way . It's a really baffling case.

One that sticks with me is the bin lorry crashing into & killing people, in George Square (Glasgow) it was 2 or 3 days before Christmas. To read of the families of the victims was devastating what they were facing at such a time of year.
I initially felt sorry for the driver until finding out he shouldn't have been working in the first place, he hadn't declared issues which mightve prevented what happened.

Just remembered how often Jill Morrell used to be in the news when I was really young, campaigning for the release of hostages John McCarthy and Terry Waite.

I think of this every time I walk past that spot by Queen Street station. My heart always goes out to the poor woman that lost her daughter and her parents in just a few moments and only survived herself because she happened to stop to take cash out. Can't even imagine the family's heartache ☹

The Clutha is another one that I can't walk past without thinking about the tragedy of the helicopter crash.

I'll always remember the abduction & murder of a little girl called Leoni Keating in 1985, she was taken from an open window of a caravan in Great Yarmouth, we went on holiday as a family to Great Yarmouth every summer, I would have been 10 at the time and always remember my Mum getting upset reading about it and how the following year we were not allowed to go very far without adult supervision.
And the Jamie Bulger case, my brother was the same age when Jamie was taken, I will never forget those images or that picture of Jamie, his smiling face in that photograph and then reading about his injuries, to this day I still struggle to comprehend how children could have done that, heart breaking.
