My partner and I were speaking of our five year plans yesterday and I'm intrigued to know what everyone else hopes to achieve in five years. Mine is:

- To have our own home & dog (the dog is very important - must be a daschund. I love them!)
- To be married
- To have children (only after marriage - call me old fashioned but this is very important to me!)
- I hope to have completed my law degree within the next 2 years, so in 5 years I hope to be a newly qualified solicitor in my current firm specialising in family law
- To be happy in the way I look and not feel the need to weigh myself every day.

Sorry to be ~that person~ but I just want to be happy. In my early 20s I expected to be a married homeowner with kids by the time I turned 30 and things haven’t panned out that way. When I turned 27 and realised it wasn’t happening on the timeline I wanted, I had a bit of a breakdown. For the sake of my mental health I’m learning not to put so much pressure on or beat myself up over it - I’ve got a great life with amazing people in it, even if it wasn’t what I had in mind. So if I’m happy in 5 years that’ll be my biggest achievement.

I’ll be 37

Hopefully I will own my own home, and have renovated it how I want. Would like to think I’ll also have a cat or maybe even a dog who knows! I hope I’m happy and have filled the last 5 years with lots of fun experiences and memories - I have no inclination as to whether I’ll be married or have kids as I’m not sure that’s what I want but hopefully by 37 I will have made up my mind!

I feel like I wrote this 5 years ago. Needless to say, we didn’t get married but we had a baby. That is only because the expense of a wedding and we ended up needing IVF. We decided that having a baby was far more important than making sure we had an amazing wedding. We will get married, it’s just not a priority. I would say not to put so much pressure on the wedding. I promised my dad I would be married before I had a baby. But even he told me not to worry when I came to fertility problems.
I will hope be a qualified solicitor next year.
Re the weight - once you have a baby, you won’t care as much. Making sure your baby is fed and well will make those concerns less of an issue.

Wow, I'll be mid 40s and the kids will all have (probably) left home 😳 hopefully have managed another couple of marathons, finished my masters, get another couple of rescue dogs and maybe finally get down to a size 14 (definitely last on the list tho 🤣)

I will be 32 by 2025/6, and I suspect I will be living back home in Bloemfontein or Johannesburg, South Africa by then.
Am trying to garner as many IT qualifications and certifications as possible between now and then, and also go with a PhD in Computer Sciences at some point soon.
Not sure if I'm ready for marriage and kids yet though. Same-sex marriage has been legal in SA since 2006, but there are still pockets of resistance/homophobia in certain states.
So i think for the next 5 years it will be progress with my career and education, move back to SA, and then see what happens in the 5 years after that:) (No doubt I will still be on here wittering on,)

I will be 34.
I’d like to have two children with the same partner in the same home. Ideally being able to work part time and being comfortable enough for days out and a holiday once a year.

In 5 years I’ll be 37. I‘d love to have a bigger house by then, and to already have another child (husband and I have been discussing it a lot lately, we don’t feel our family is complete but have a lot to think about). I hope my sons are both happy and settled at school, and have good friendships - they’ll be 8 and 10. I also hope we’re living in a world where Covid is under control and there are no more restrictions like the ones we’ve seen this year. I‘d like to have more of a social life and maybe to have picked up a hobby, I’ve definitely neglected myself both physically and mentally for too long so I really would like to be in a better place in both of those respects.

Mmmmhhh, my oldest will hopefully be off to college. My dog will have calmed down (we are still in the puppy stage and I can't wait for him to calm down). Other than that I don't have any big plans. I just got a new job offered and hopefully will like it and be at that job. Maybe do some more traveling by then.

I’d like to see myself as attractive again, and as someone who has something to offer. I’d like to take my daughter away a couple of times and pass my driving test!

I like to think I'm more practical with this for myself now,

- Driving! I plan on learning and buying my first car next year!
- Transferring into a HR related job
- Move out of home again (f u covid)
- Perhaps moving home to England

I'll be 30.
I hope me and my fella have got married, or at least engaged by then. I hope we have another child. And I hope we get our dream home.
For me on my own, I hope I start accepting myself and my looks as I have terrible issues with how I look. And I hope I'm just happy. As I'm quite up & down. More down unfortunately

Oh gosh I’m feeling rather old seeing everyone’s ages. Young at heart though.

My life is at a stable stage so I don’t anticipate (or want!) any big changes.

New sofa (sooner rather than later). Two promotions by then (I hope).

Just want to be happy and healthy (me and my loved ones, which now include all of you).

It's so funny how we make little assumptions about people on here when we actually have no access to any personal information. Based off your posts I've seen on various threads (SS & Hinch mainly!) I'd assumed you and I were the same age (25 currently). I also for some reason had this perception that you were really confident in yourself (in a good way - not arrogant!), the type of person whose confidence can be infectious! I'm obviously very wrong - but I still think you seem a great person!I feel your pain on the confidence issues in how you look - I'm the same! I hope you find your happiness :)

I am 25! I've snuck back and edited it but for some reason I thought it was 10 years 🤣 so ill be 30 in 5 years. That's so sweet for you to say! I think I'm the type of person that when I'm down I keep it to myself a lot and hide it well to the people around me so they have no idea im feeling down. Funny isn't it how you get perceptions about people from on here, its like a little friendship group you don't even know!
