What’s your glow up secret?!

Hi guys!
been watching a few pamper routines and glow up videos recently and getting into trying to find my best self so my question to you is

what’s your best piece of advice/thing you love to do/product you love to use to get you either looking or feeling your best?!

few of mine:
After doing a foot peel - Doing my nails on my feet, then using my tanning drops and some oil / foot lotion massage my feet and put on some thick socks

massaging my nails with almond oil/nail butter

brushing my eyelashes with castor oil

doing a deep clean of my bed (hoovering under, lifting the mattress and hoovering it, freshening the mattress up with a ‘wash’ and airing it out, washing and drying my pillows and duvet and then changing my bedding before a bath and then getting into a warm clean bed

(Also these don’t have to be about physically they can be about your personality too) just anything you feel really gets you feeling like you’ve glowed up or you feel that extra special

I like this thread, can't wait to hear what others have to say. Maybe I can try something new and see if it works for me.

I love "spa" days. I do it myself at home to cut costs (saving money is another of my glows). Painting my nails, waxing, and facials always make me feel lighter and happier. For my facial: I have a mud mask that I put on, wash it off, and put honey on for about 30 minutes. Wash that off, then apply coconut oil. I gently dab off the oil after about another 30 minutes, but don't wash it off. Also use coconut oil as my hair conditioner.

Making the bed every morning. It makes me feel like I get more out of the day compared to days that I don't do it.

A clean house and excercise make me happy... A clean house is a privilege with a toddler around, so I really cherish those hours before it's a mess again. Excercise always makes me happy afterwards, a runners high really exists I can attest to it... But somehow it still takes me a few hours to talk myself into doing it.

Natural light is the very top of my glow list. I get sad/down very easily. Over time, I've learnt the things I need to do to pick myself up: being in a bright room with natural light is one of them (even better being outside, but not always practical). The first thing I do when my family is awake is open all the blinds and let in the light. Sunshine or rain, it's still natural light. I cannot be in a windowless room for a long time, my mood will drop.

As far as clothes go: I love dressing up! Kate Middleton used to be my style icon before she started dressing like my grandmother (sorry Kate fans). I have a collection of dresses, bras, and shoes that I can't wear all the time but always make sure to find an occasion.

This blue poppy dress is one of my all time favorites. I don't normally buy what celebrities wear, but this one I had to. It's my favourite dress. The coat is my favourite too, I got a dress maker to make me something similar at half of the cost. When I'm not dressed up, I like skinny jeans. Won't ever see me in anything baggy. Baggy clothes have a dark room effect for me, they make me feel blah.

Getting my hair done. I go once a month to cover greys and basically help me feel good about myself.

Bubble baths.

Putting a hair mask on, dermaplaning my face and tinting my eyebrows.

Making sure my living room is nice and tidy, lighting my candles, sitting with my tartan blanket and watching some Netflix.

In the summer, sitting on my swing chair in the garden to eat breakfast, looking at the plants and listening to the birds. Makes me feel happy and peaceful.

What are your thoughts on dermaplaning, is it good? Does the hair grow back thicker?

Prescription retinol, and Botox.

There’s more to my ‘regime’ than that, but these two have the most effect by far. Having a good cut and colour makes a difference for me too, if my hair looks good then I feel good. Tanning, masks, exfoliating etc are all something I enjoy but I’m not one of life’s great beauties so I need the retinol and Botox to do the heavy lifting💁‍♀️

No it doesn’t grown back thicker or darker for me. I use the Hollywood Browzer, I’ve tried a few different types but always go back to that one. I have PCOS so I’m very hairy so dermaplaning is kind of a necessity for me. If you have lots of peach fuzz I would say go for it, your face is smoother and make goes on nicely.

Thank you that’s really helpful :)

I love having days when I deep clean the house, wash and put fresh bedding on, have a bubble bath, wash my hair, tint my eyebrows and do my skincare. Then light all the candles in the evening and sit down with a glass of wine, knowing everything is clean and fresh.

I feel so ✨relaxed✨

.. guess what I’m doing today 🤣

if I could tint my own eyelashes I would feel even better, but I have no idea how!

Heels always make me feel fabulous, sometimes if Ive not worn any for a while I will just totter around the house in some haha
Curling my hair makes me feel good too, I dont do it often as I dont have the time in the mornings but it makes me feel so put together, same with wearing a nice lipstick.
I feel amazing when I am exercising regularly, I have to really force myself but I do feel and look better for it.

I also want to add that a good clean around the house is great. I find living in mess really affects my mood, I dont know how people can cope.

I do lots of running (5 miles a day at least; double that at the weekends) I am fortunate in that I live out in the sticks, so when I do go for a jog with my headphones on I can unscramble my mind for an hour or so, and just let the forces of Nature ride through and over me; especially when I reach my destination, usually a hill out in the countryside, and I can take stock of the world around me before heading back home.

A good hot shower and/a foot spa treatment shortly afterwards, sets me up for the rest of the day

I always feel so much better when I make sure I keep on top of my water intake. It try and make sure I drink at least 2 litres each day, I’ve fallen behind in the last few days so I’m glad to have stumbled upon this thread, going to make sure I put the effort in today as I find I have a clearer head and just feel better overall when I make a conscious effort to stay hydrated.

I also like to make sure I keep my eyes brows neat (I also them them subtlety micro blades) and get my underarms waxed regularly. Also, if I ever find myself about to order a take away, I usually jump on ASOS and order myself a new item of clothing instead as I always seem to moan about never having anything nice to wear 🤣

An Indian Head Massage, is highly recommended. Although be warned, when I had it done for the very first time by a specialist I almost climaxed! :giggle:

Have a look on YouTube for some tutorials. Mine are black so I don't have to tint them, but my blonde friend who used to get hers done regularly at a salon started doing her own during lockdown after watching how to do it on YouTube.
She said if they turned out terrible at least she wouldn't be seeing anyone for a while!
They turned out absolutely fine. She says she won't bother going back to a salon again to get them done. She'll just keep doing them herself.

I'm so jealous. I used to run a lot and it was great for my mind, but shin splints have plagued me something rotten. There's so much lovely countryside where I am and I so wish I could still run.

I’ve just ordered eyelash tint on prime! I already do my eyebrows so I’m going to teach myself!!

I thought, my lashes are so blonde, anything is better than nothing so 🤞🏻🤞🏻 ☺☺

I had SS 4 or 5 years ago, primarily because I was pushing myself too hard with too many marathons and half-marathons every year. The hard roads and demanding pace took their toll, and I could barely walk for SS for about a month or so. But I slowly and carefully recovered, and reduced the number of marathons down to only about 4 of 5 a year.

That said a brisk walk is just as good and beneficial if you can't manage a full run.
