I’m going slightly demented in this lockdown and am trying to do simple things that raise my spirits. These things include:

Dancing/singing to loud music everyday with my little girl. She’s 3.5 so need to be careful what is played but Dua Lipa/Lizzo and Disney princesses are popular!

Watching YouTube clips before I go to sleep that’ll make me laugh. A wee Irish boy listing all the jobs he had to was good last night.

Buying a Kinder Happy Hippo on our one trip to the shop every week. Those things are like crack.

Lego! I spent a whole day on my own recently making everything in the Lego box my daughter got for Christmas. So now I’m hooked and if I had the money would buy loads of the bloody stuff. It’s quite a meditative process from beginning to end.

Also, this place has been invaluable - just to read/comment/talk to other people about the absolute weapons out there on Instagram.

What are you doing that’s helping you not lose your mind?

Fresh air. Getting out with the kids for a few hours and breaking the monotony of indoors, just breathing in that (currently very, very) fresh air makes my day 100 times better.

Kinder Hippos are delicious. You should stock up. Give yourself one a day, life is hard enough atm!

Tattle! When my baby naps or has gone to bed and I'm alone if my partners at work this is a great distraction

Cooking - I'm searching for new recipes and trying newer things

New baby - luckily I have been pre occupied with a new baby so I spend most my time chasing after him now he's started to walk. Getting out in the fresh air for walks too does wonders for my mental health

Also a dance and a sing song for us too!! Mostly it's Little Baby Bum I'm singing along to but sometimes ill put a cheeky rap on or a bit of Abba 🤣

I just treated myself to a new big warm coat (except I did then check the forecast and it’s going to get warmer next week anyway... oh well!). Looking forward to going for walks in my massive coat and not being freezing 😄.

Love this ❤❤❤

- Same as one of the poster above said, getting out for some fresh air each day, even if it's raining. Towards the end of last year, there were times when days would pass without leaving the house, so now I force myself to get out no matter how badly I don't want to.

- Due to life getting in the way, I lost touch with a number of people over the years, but recently I've re-connected with a lot of them which has been lovely. Hope to stay in touch after all this is over and meet up when we can.

-Treating myself to nice food.

-Started a new hobby of painting. I'm rubbish, but it's very therapeutic.

-Tattle

-Avoid watching/reading the news too much. At the start of this, I pretty much constantly had the news on the telly. Was so bad for my mental wellbeing. Now I only allow myself to look at the days roundup, at the end of my work day.

Tattle - because it gives me a place to chat without bothering with social media or IRL people, for a bit of escapism.

Food - making a different pudding or dinner at the weekend and making a bit of a deal about it, makes me feel like I’ve managed something.

Work - thankfully I’m able to work from home. Whilst it is isolating, I don’t know how i would fill my hours if I was furloughed.

Crafting - I’ve taken up a couple of crafts and it is so grounding!

Netflix - before lockdown I was one of those who thought Netflix was hyped... well, I’ve had so much viewing hours per month that the £6 monthly fee has been well and truly worth it.

I did! Only Amazon weren’t quite clear so I ended up with these bastarding things!

Love this ❤❤❤

Thankful for family - doing a lot more indoor activities as a family which we didn't do much of pre C19 - my kids can now make cakes/soups/bread/and help more with dinner preparation

Going for a walk everyday, whatever the weather

Try to do simple youtube workouts each day, however I don't beat myself up if I don't feel up to it

Stay away from the News to avoid hearing the same thing or a different version of the same thing everyday

Tattle - have had some real laugh out loud moments 😄

Eating as many mint club biscuits as I like guilt free

Tattle. I'm so glad I found this forum, I'm still kinda new here but it's a great place to be!

Working! Never thought I'd be so glad to be at work.

Eating nice food. Glad some restaurants are still open for takeaway, I'm happy to support them as much as I can.

My uni work.

Language learning, although I've been slacking a lot lately.

Edit: Music! I've enjoyed delving into Spotify and discovering loads of new artists and songs to listen to.

This thread has made me realise I’m just existing through each day and doing nothing fun. I had planned to exercise and walk daily but I’ve had zero motivation and I eat terribly.
Need a kick up the arse but feel like I’m waiting for the lockdown roadmap.

Reading- I've set myself a reading challenge of 25 books this year, last year I got to 11 books but I have so much more time due to being at home. So hoping to go over 25.

Walking - we are lucky to be in the cotswolds surrounded by lots of hills and quite tough walks. Trying to do at least 3 big walks a week with smaller walks for the rest of the week. Feels good to get out.

Knitting- I used to knit but lost my knitting mojo now I've found it again

Cooking - evening meals are slowly getting more and more elaborate 🤣 but hey I'm learning new recipes and my family are enjoying eating them!

Working - lucky to be working part time from home soim cracking on with that and doing overtime when they need me too. Also have done a work related professional exam in January, i might do another if I can find the mental capacity they are not easy!

Playing - i have 3 almost 4 year old so we've invented lots of new games to play inside, we also build dens and make obstacle courses

DIY - due to a rambunctious 3.5 year old s
and both me and my parter now home 24/7 our house was starting to look like a dump 😅 lived in is putting it lightly. Scuffed walls, food up walls, ruined carpets you name it. We are getting the house sorted room by room and it feels great to have it looking fresh again

Reading all that back I'm quite busy 😅

My son, and honestly sometimes, thinking that things could be worse for me. We could all be terminally ill with no hope, I could be stuck isolating with an abuser, I could’ve lost someone to covid. They’re the realities for a lot of people, none of which are mine. Knowing that days could be a lot worse, keeps me going. If all those people can do this, so can I.

Tattle 🥰 So grateful to have found my fellow trolls under the bridge

I've been lucky to wfh with minimal outgoings, so saving and spending that on home improvements have kept me going.

Chocolate and biscuits mainly. And Tattle of course! I quite enjoy working 2m apart from my colleagues though, I’d be happy if that continued 😁. Can’t bear my personal space being invaded!
