Hi all, I hope you are having a lovely Easter weekend.

Sorry to post here but I am at loss at what to do. I am going to call my GP Tuesday by the way! I tried to ring Thursday but apparently it was only for emergencies :(

Okay so tomorrow will be my 10th day that I've suffered from tummy cramping and pain, very soft poo (almost like diarrhoea which STINKS really badly.. Sorry but the smell is disgustingly bad), awful nausea and completely lost my appetite that I've started to lose weight as well cos I cannot even think about eating anything. I am trying but I gag at the thought of it (10000% not pregnant). In the mornings it's worse my stomach cramps so badly and I am letting out so much wind, just like IBS symptoms and I have to get to the toilet and it is almost like water. I don't have any blood in my poo or anything like that but I do feel really crap in myself and I just want to stay in bed all day. Even going to work is tiring me out.

I dipped my urine to see if I had an infection but that was clear. My son did have a vomiting bug a few days prior to my symptoms starting, but I don't have any vomiting I just feel absolutely wiped out and my digestive system just working overtime. He recovered after 5 days but now he just had a bout of diarrhoea.. I think it might be from having too much apple juice but it absolutely stunk and he keeps farting as well.

I've had about 3 bugs in a short space of time and this one is the longest I've had. Either it is a parasite that I need antibiotics for or it has completely buggered up my digestive system. Has anyone else had this? Honestly it's bloody goddamn awful and I'm getting so sick of feeling like tit. We're moving house soon and I HAVE to start feeling better by then.

I didn’t have the smell issues but the rest I did have and the doctor informed me it was my anxiety.
As it had got that bad

Sounds like a horrible bug, especially if your little one has been ill too. I hope you get some answers

I had similar apart from the poo and they couldn’t work out what it was. The doctor just kept palming me off saying it was IBS but I was in so much pain so I went to the walk in clinic and they sent me to the hospital. After multiple hospital trips they decided it was gastritis and gave me tablets which sorted it. Where is your pain?

Get tested for helicobacter pylori. Insist on it just to rule it out cause that tit (pun intended) will rule your life, and the symptoms sound very familiar.

Thank you all. I will definitely be going doctors on Tuesday and I've ordered H Pylori test kit off Amazon. I've used it before as I kept getting terrible indigestion and it came back negative, but I have loads more symptoms now so worth checking for. I had a really horrible night. Woke up with awful, awful stomach pains I was withering around getting very uncomfortabl, then I had the urge to go so went to the toilet and it was TMI, like water and had undigested bits in it. This morning I feel very tired despite having a lay in and very empty feeling in my stomach. I'm going to have some toast and just try and not eat too much food. Every night this happens I get terrible stomach pains and end up having to go toilet. One thing I have noticed is that I am not as nauseated as I once was (was so bad before it was like I was pregnant all over again). I know so many people have it worse off but this is really getting me down.

Anxiety has caused me to have bowel issues too - sense of urgency when I’m nervous, looser than usual but not diarrhoea. In
My case it really is anxiety related; job interviews, shopping in Sainsbury’s (🤷🏼‍♀️) used to be my old job where the stuck up cow looked down at me.

Its not gastroenteritis is it? I used to suffer with that loads as a kid, it’s usually thought of as involving D&V but I always had the D and not the V - my symptoms were exactly like you described, really soft poo, awful stomach cramps and nausea yet not touching food. Every single time I had it I ended up on an IV drip (but that was because I refused to drink anything which made it worse) - and yes, it did last about 10-14 days a time, it really knocks you for six.
They prescribed me water, loads of water and I mean LOADS, to flush it out, and dioralyte (disgusting salty pool water tasting type drink) because the more you poo the more salt you lose which can make you feel rubbish and the dioralyte helps you take it back in. Maybe worth getting some from the chemist. Food wise they didn’t care as long as I was drinking!

Your GP should offer the H Pylori stool test - don’t be paying for this service from Amazon!!!

I thought you had to ask them? What do they usually test your stool for if they're asking for a sample? I am trying not to Google as I have Health Anxiety so I need to reign that in but I ordered 2 any way as my hubby is also having symptoms, not my symptoms but he's got acid reflux and he just gets given Omeprazole to control it.

If they suspect you have the H Pylori parasite they will ask you to go away and provide a stool sample. If it comes back positive you’ll be prescribed antibiotics.

Stomach ulcers/acid reflux can give similar symptoms which is why your partner has been given omeprazole. If this is working for him then that’s great, but he may or may not have what you have.

Aah I feel your pain! I live with my mum and dad and all 3 of us have been pretty much the same as you’re describing since last Saturday, they’ve both been vomiting too!

The only good thing to come of it is that I’ve lost 7lbs and my mums lost 12lbs since it started :ROFLMAO:

H Pylori can cause acid reflux and stomach ulcers. They test for this when they do an endoscopy as well. If it’s unclear what’s causing the issue the GP will run a test on stool sample for all possible common causes of upset stomach. X

Thank you. I hope they do. My GP are generally very good. She's always insisted that I come in to get investigated whenever I've had to call my surgery. Cannot fault them. I just hope that whatever it is I have goes away by then. I'm not sure whether it could be gastroenteritis... No idea where I would get any bug from as I am very much by the book when it comes to handwashing and making sure veg and salads are clean but my best guess is I caught it off my son but I seem to he far worse than he was. I've got it coming out of my bottom end whereas he had it coming out the top lol x

Yep.

Quite suddenly I felt nauseous all the time, couldn't really eat as everything made me gag. Had horrendous acid reflux and blood in my poo. Heart palpitations and sudden urges to go to the toilet. Would also get stabbing pains in my tummy and I was anaemic. Dr at work said I should get myself checked for a stomach ulcer. Thought he was being dramatic. It came to a head when we went on holiday and the whole time I ate one meal and started to wake up with blood in the back of my throat in the mornings.

Went straight to the GP when I got back who luckily happened to be a gastro specialist. I mentioned the comment the doctor made at work and she said it sounded exactly like HPylori that can cause stomach ulcers. Lo and behold I was absolutely ridden with it. Some very strong antibiotics followed by a year of high dose Lanzoprazole and I was symptom free. It's a very nasty little bacteria that can cause all sorts of issues and can hang about in your system for ages before it activates. It's generally contracted abroad in places with poorer hygeine standards apparently.

Get checked for it!
