What is this?!

So lately I keep feeling that the world/ reality is just a false construction. For example with the immigrants crossing the border into the UK lately, I think it’s so strange that the world has been divided into imaginary borders when we are literally all equal and all born on this planet. How can one country just refuse to allow people in? I feel the same way about authority / police, I really don’t agree with the power they hold and think some of the laws are silly eg drugs. Why is being a drug dealer illegal and carry a hefty sentence? I mean, people should be able to choose if they want to buy drugs or not. They’re not forcing anyone to buy them. OK yes drugs can be laced with things but if they were legal this wouldn’t be an issue as they’d be made in factories with regulations. How can police / the justice system basically take away someone’s time / days? These are just examples. I feel like everything is fake and these limitations, society rules etc are fake. We can do ANYTHING there is nothing stopping us. I could cut all my hair off or walk round naked.
why do I keep feeling this?! I’ve never had this overwhelming feeling before to just go out and be free. Sometimes it feels suffocating living and ordinary life
Hope I don’t sound crazy

I mean, there is a lot of reasons why laws are needed and drug dealing is 100% not a victimless crime by any means... however that wasn’t what you were asking - sounds like you are having an existential crisis. It’s pretty normal and loads of people go through it, I sometimes get it in the form of why am I on the earth? Surely not to work most my life to earn money to pay to other people, it feels like a relentless carousel and so pointless. Then it passes. Hope you feel a bit better soon

Just wanted to add that loads of things can trigger you to feel this way, loss of friends, big events, turning 40 or something like that, so you may not feel directly affected by Covid 19 but a world wide pandemic is a good a reason as any to start questioning the world

Sometimes I have these periods where I think really deeply about things and it just makes no sense, I start thinking about the way the world got the way it is and how other people just govern/lead us and we just follow the rules (not everybody does obvs)
I think about how unfair it is people live in poverty and have such terrible lives but nothing seems to ever change no matter how many charities there are 🤷🏻‍♀️
I also start thinking thinking about life/death how you are so attached to people and then they just can die and it’s over!
Sorry bit deep for a Saturday night but I get what you mean! X

I feel the same as you a lot of the time and really starts to freak me out thinking that we just do this our whole lives and then boom the lights go out one day? (I don’t believe in an afterlife)

The one thing I am against is drugs...whether selling or taking. I have family who have long had problems with drug abuse and it has really shortened my fuse in terms of being tolerant. Where I live, opioid use is up and has been for a number of years. I do not feel sorry for them. We all are able to make choices in life, and there is enough information out there to know the harm that they do. It may sound tough but drugs impact so many more people than just those taking... family members, friends, members of the public. Crime is up lots here due to drug addicts. From people being attacked at train stations, on the street, cars being stolen, houses are being broken into, and gang wars that get members of the public caught up in by mistake. When they start doing those things, they are criminals and deserve to be treated as such. I have zero empathy for now.

I agree, I could write an essay on the graphic details of countylines but I would probably upset people and get a ban. If people knew where their line of coke came from and what orifice vulnerable 13/14 year old girls transported it in - I would hope they would think twice about buying it.

I think it’s pretty normal to think critically and question things about humanity. When you strip it all back things like laws and people having authority over us is all socially constructed by us humans, they didn’t exist before we became sentient. They’re not all bad though, it’s a mix bag and of course depends on where you are in the world. Sometimes laws exist to ensure our safety, other times it’s to exert control over us (in certain countries, anyway), other times it just seems arbitrary and that’s why laws can change over time as each society learns and progresses. It’s interesting to think about and sometimes depressing. But realistically at this point it’s just how things are and we have to learn to live with that.

Something I sometimes think about is how in the grand scheme of things, humanity is really in its infancy, society still has a lot of progress to make before we live in a world where things like hunger and homelessness aren’t a problem, we may not ever get there but we can sure strive for that and improve. The way things are now aren’t how they always have to be. I dunno I guess thinking about how society today still isn’t the ‘finished product’ and there’s still progress to be made gives me hope when I’m stuck thinking about certain things in life that bring me down but realistically can’t change by myself. Hope that makes sense.

I don’t mean rapists / murders / robbers shouldn’t be in prison! But things like this... it’s all about power isn’t it?

depends, if a gang of teens were driving them up and down outside of your house all hours of the evening and causing anti social behaviour with them would you want something down about it, or outside your grandparents house at 11.30pm and stopping them sleeping. Would you deem it a ‘power’ thing then?
what if they smashed Into your car - would be bothered they are uninsured?
Interesting you put robbery up there with murder and grape ... what about a simple theft? Legalise?

Im not sure what’s going on in your life, but I think you’re just looking for an argument. Your questions could be answered yourself if you just thought for a minute.

I wasn't asking because I don’t know the answers or understand why there is a law to protect users of the road, I was curious as to your thought process.

I thought it was a discussion rather than just you making statements that you didn’t want anyone to question. It doesn’t mean I have stuff ‘going on in my life’ and even if I did, that wouldn’t make my point of view any less valid. 🤷🏼‍♀️ It wasn’t meant to upset you or offend you.
