Just before I left work an issue popped up and I didn't think it was going to be a big deal but now I'm worried about it.
Essentially last week there was a system error when I put in an order for one of our biggest clients, and no communications went out, either to them or to anyone who had to work on it. At least it was a small order. Normally, when something like this happens, the client notices they didn't receive any confirmations and tells me so I can check (it's pretty much impossible for me to check every single one, it takes like 5-10 minutes for all the communication emails to load, I put in about 40 orders every day, and the vast majority of them go smoothly). But when I put in this order they had sent like 5 very similar orders so I think this just flew under the radar for them too.
The problem is, the deadline is tomorrow. There's a chance we might be able to scramble and get it done, because as I said it's a very small order, but it's unlikely.
It's not really my fault to be honest, it was just bad luck, but the customer is not gonna care about that. Although there's a chance they're gonna be lenient considering they didn't notice they didn't receive the confirmation and details either.

My bleeping family!!! Jesus christ!!! My aunt and uncle have finally stepped up to the plate slightly (only because there's money in it for them) and expect praise and acknowledgment for every slight thing. They're both an absolute waste of space and only considered 'family' in the loosest sense.

My local authority are going to give me a mental breakdown.

They are headless chickens in a barnyard over whether I am registered to vote or not. Last I knew, I was not so I applied and they sent me a form the other day which I have yet to fill in and return.

Tonight I get an email - so they are obviously all WFH - telling me my application has been successful and I will be registered to vote from 01/08/2024.

I have no idea what is going on, what I am now supposed to do, talking to a human only gets you a bollocking for criticising their hardworking staff even if you don't and I am pretty damn livid that I am getting these emails late at night on a semi regular basis when I'm trying to de-stress from the day.

I think I'm going to have to just give up, block them from being able to contact me for the sake of my mental health and try not to care about having no voice.

Nice one.

I think you're being a bit dramatic to be honest, the late night emails are clearly automated, why would there be civil servants working night shifts? Maybe you shouldn't take them so personally
Also I don't see how them working from home would have an impact on you

Find your phone's do no disturb setting. Then you should only get notifications from your chosen contacts when you activate it.

When you have patiently and clearly explained a process to a client. Then repeated it in clear and easy to understand written format. And they still keep asking how to do it, one person now emails me 3 times a day with queries and I cant take it anymore. At this point I think they should just give up because they are not getting it

I have shown how angry I am by signing off Regards, thats basically me telling you we are done 😆

Sitting in work with wet shoes  walked to work in the rain at 8am this morning and they're still super uncomfortable - I have an old pair on that I know stink to high heavens so I don't want to subject my co-workers to me taking them off and letting them dry :ROFLMAO:

Someone organised a party where we all chipped in to come. 35 people. My friend who was involved in helping told me there was over £1000 left over which all went into one person’s bank account. My friend asked me not to name her.

I messaged in the group asking for a breakdown of costs. Saying if there was any money left over, it should be shared out equally between us.

The person said only £15-20 was left over. That she donated that amount.

I asked for proof of the donation. One person chimed in that if I had a problem I should not have come. Another that it was non refundable.

I did not make any accusations just asked for a breakdown.

Was it wrong of me to ask? Would you have left it like my mother told me to do?

Absolutely would not have left it. But I probably would've approached person privately about money left over and asking for it to be returned. If person refused I would let everybody know what situation was. I can't stand thieves and liars

Wow that's an insane amount of money to be left over - how were the preparation costs so underestimated?

Damn right I'd be wanting that money back and I'd be pissed that they lied about how much was left over - can you DM them privately to let them know you know? Or would it be dropping your friend into it too much?

The level of racism that just seems to be accepted where I live. I'm in the South Wales valleys.

Family members recently went to Birmingham and apparently "felt like foreigners" because of the amount of brown and black skinned people.

But none seem to comprehend the fact that a huge number of those people are literally just as British as they are?! Born and bred here. Not "fOrEiGnErS" at all. (Not that it would matter if they aren't British, but you get what I mean) And are also completely blind to the fact there are likely a huge number of white people from other countries but they don't count do they 😑😑

Ugh it honestly makes me embarrassed to be Welsh, it's such a huge problem here. The "P" word for small shop owners is thrown around super casually, my area had over 20% Reform votes because "immigration innit"

Sick of it

I know everything because of my friend. It would be obvious she was the mole. She was thrown out by the other 4 organisers, when she was the original person arranging everything. She was the one who found the venue. She knew the photographer. The other four organisers went behind her back and finalised the venue contract with the hotel and with the photographer.

-They stopped showing my friend receipts and cut all contact with her. She stayed quiet because she wanted peace.
-The event was at a four star hotel for around two hours.
-The drinks were orange juice and coke with coffee. No alcohol involved.
-The food was small buns sandwiches and puff pastries. The hotel does have £38 per head options. They went with the cheapest .

I am not the type to stay quiet anymore, but just surprised at how much they milked us.

And I’m the villain because I asked about the breakdown. 🤡

My immediate family.

I need a bleeping favour from my brother regarding the dog. We don't usually talk, because he's a prick, and the last time I needed anything was because I was recovering from an operation, which left me temporarily unable to walk!

The moment I did ask, why can't you cancel your plans? Why do I have to do anything for her? I have a kid, other responsibilities, etc.

Not until I burst into tears, because I'm too tired and poor to pay for full boarding, he wouldn't stop acting like the man child he is having a strop. I didn't even plan to but you know when you're just so frustrated and angry? He took me there in less than 5 minutes ☹

He's doing me the favour, begrudgingly, but ffs, the absolute relentless horror of being related to someone like that. Even when we don't speak, he's making my mum's life miserable and I hear about it.

Arghhhhhhhh!!!

I probably was being dramatic, I've just been given the runaround on the issue to the point where it's driven me crazy.

Though I was under the imrpession that this was a thread where people could rant without having to defend themselves? I don't see why having a negative opinion of WFH is so terrrible and I'm not sure on the emails being automated because I see other people say they get contacted at unconventinal and random times at night now by staff from whereever.

I cannot believe that someone on a Facebook neighbourhood page has moaned about a cat disturbing nesting birds. They've obviously never seen a coot see off Canada geese!

No one has to "defend themselves" (in fact you don't have to reply at all, you are choosing to), but if you rant on a public forum you should probably expect people reacting and commenting, otherwise you could just rant on a piece of paper.

And I'm sure your opinion of working from home isn't based on prejudice that people who do it are lazy and are slacking off...or on the fact that you can't or couldn't do it so no one else can 🙄

You are taking my criticism of WFH extremely personally. I am allowed to have an opinion on it, you know. It's not like I said WFH is evil, I want it banned or something. Then I'd understand your reaction.

But I do think it has caused problems, especially in the public sector where I do find things slow and muddly any way when stuff has to be sorted out. That's my experience, and that of other people I've talked to. Not trying to claim it's universal and as I was a bit too worked up when I posted maybe it came across like that unintentionally.

Your eye rolling and overall hostility is honestly genuinely confusing to me so I will leave you to it, it's out of my system now and I'm happy to move on.
