This!! When I was applying for jobs a few months ago, I saw one which looked great and had a good salary. They emailed me to invite me for an interview and casually dropped in that the role is actually part time and the salary shown in the ad will be pro rata. A huge waste of time.I think I ranted before about job adverts not having the salary. But I also want to rant about ones that have a salary but it’s pro rata. Why can’t they just state the salary for that job not what you’d get if you worked full time or whatever. I just want to know the salary for that specific job and hours
The car insurance thing has got way out of control. Just about everyone I know has had massive increases in their premiums.
This year they're all charging silly numbers because of the cost of parts and repairs. Seems ridiculous! I'm sure they do have to factor it in but doubling the cost seems insaneIt's because they know most people will just keep the same insurers and let it auto-renew.
Insurance has changed so much in my lifetime. I remember my dad laughing at my insurance and saying don't worry when you get to my age it will be peanuts, as his went down every single year as long as he didn't have any accidents. I've never had an accident and mine has gone up year after year. If mine goes up more than £50 I will shop around and normally get it the same price or as my other post shows will get it cheaper.
If everyone shopped around insurance would be more competitive and they would all be fighting to give lower quotes.
I agree with this. I recently had my car insurance renewal through and my annual premium was around £110 higher than the previous year, despite not making any claims or changing my car in that time. The car insurance thing has got way out of control. I had this the other day. Rang a company, spoke to someone who said they hadn't received it from the sender so said ok, got back onto the sender who said nope we sent it on x date. I rang the company back. At no point was i accusing them of not having it, in fact I had assumed it was lost in the post but just wanted to check its not the kind of place where it could sit for 5 days before someone put it on the computer. Gave my details and got "you rang earlier and you were told we don't have it"I agree with this. So I went on the price comparison websites, got the best deal, then I contacted my current insurer and they came right down. They couldn't go quite as cheap as the lowest quote I got, but they were within £10 of it, so I accepted it. So I definitely recommend people do similar!

Today's rant is rude customer service. I used to work in retail so I'm always really polite to retail staff, as I've been there, done that. However, I ordered something online and when I hadn't heard anything a week later I sent them a polite email just asking when I might hear something as I was a bit concerned it had slipped through the cracks. I got a reply a couple of days later that basically said:
"You submitted your order on a Friday afternoon and our staff don't work weekends. We also are experiencing a high level of orders and queries at the moment, so understandably we're taking longer to dispatch orders than usual. Anyway I can see we've sent your order today, so this closes the matter".
They might as well have added a "duck you" to the end.I could understand if I'd been chasing a day or two after I placed the order, but it had been a week with no communication and my card had been charged the day I made the order so I was just a bit worried. I had no idea they didn't work weekends either. If they'd just sent me a quick message saying they were experiencing delays that would have been fine. I don't really get it when businesses are rude, because it doesn't exactly make you want to use them again.
Sounded a bit sharp! I did a stint in a call centre many years ago when I was in my student days and I was always polite to people. Yeah sometimes you had to bite your tongue and not say what you thought, but you accepted that was part of the job. Clearly that didn't apply to the person you spoke to.I had this the other day. I just wanted to check all options before resending! Dick
Call centre workers are just trying to earn a living.Sounded a bit sharp! I did a stint in a call centre many years ago when I was in my student days and I was always polite to people. In the example I gave I'm pretty sure they only sent mine that day because of my email. Then they knew they could end it with a "anyway we've sent it now" type response.
I don’t think anyone here said call centre workers should get abuse? I certainly would never be rude to one.Call centre workers are just trying to earn a living.
They get enough abuse, we don’t need to add to it.

I absolutely could not have been nicer. I had literally only given them my details when i got the aggressive response. Even at that point I wasn't rude, but he got my back up and I could imagine he probably gets as much back as he gives out if thats the way he deals with customers. Oh and to conclude the story they actually DID have it all along...I don’t think anyone here said call centre workers should get abuse? I certainly would never be rude to one.
