What do you think happens when you die?

Something that's always terrified me!

Non religious background but absolutely petrified of going to hell. Consumes my mind day and night 😔

Always try and be a rational person, find it incredibly difficult to believe ghost stories, mediums, anything paranormal!

Ideal scenario for me would be if death was just like the billions of years before you were born.

Thoughts?

Oooo this is an interesting thread 👀 will be interesting to read other people’s thoughts about it. Tbh I think there is nothing, once your dead that’s it 🤷🏻‍♀️ However if I start thinking about how crazy it is that the universe and all it’s inhabitants exist, I think maybe anything is possible 🤔

Nothing. I dont believe in god or something like that..i think, if you die, everything will end.
There will be only darkness and nothing else.
I guess, that people had create all this stories from the life after death, because they had fear the death so much.
But i dont think, that a life after death does exist.

I'm on the fence with you, truth is we simply don't know. I quite like the idea of hell, especially for a few people (who if it were an actual place) would burn there  I think being dead is probably like being unborn. What really freaks me out is what happens to our bodies after we die, I don't like the thought of that and I've a fear of being buried alive. My mother worked in palliative care and she had some interesting stories of death bed situations and lots of little things she did after someone passed away, like opening a window to let the soul out.
I'm really going to enjoy this thread, thanks NParker.

Hell has never exist. The hell was a invention of the catholic church, they invent it, because they want to make the people fear, and people which have fear dont get the idea to turn away from the religion.
From my view it is very curious, that people had so much fear the not existing hell in the medival times. That has poisened their whole life with fear.

This is a good point, I was brought up in the Catholic faith and I get morals and religion mixed up all the time as a consequence. Did they really not have a concept of hell in middle ages?

I don’t believe anything happens to us after we die, no heaven, hell or reincarnation etc. I like the idea that we are living in a simulation or something very ‘black mirror’ although I don’t believe we are 😂

I've always been of the thought that once you die, you die. That's it. I don't really believe in an after life. Although, I think that's partly myself subconsciously trying to tell myself it doesn't exist so I don't get scared. I'm a bit of a wimp so the thought of a ghost chilling out beside me in the dark is not cool  :ROFLMAO:

in medival times the catholic churchs makes a lot of money with the concept of hell...they sold indulgence letters, in which they promised the people, that they or their relatives will not come to hell.
Peope all feared the hell, because the priests in the churches make the people fear the hell....so people payed a lot of money for getting a letter from the church which told them, they will not come to the not existing hell.
That was a good business for the catholic church, but it makes a lot of people suffer on fear.

I always get annoyed when people post about getting feathers as signs from loved ones.

So anyone who doesn't get 'signs' aren't worthy of having loved ones who passed that send them messages?

I think it’s just like it was before you were born. However I’m open minded because I simply don’t know but that’s what I think

The fact DMT is released in your brain after death makes me believe there's aaaalot more than nothing. 🤷‍♀️

I have to go out now but I'd love to hear more...
DMT is a pretty potent psychedelic drug (most people smoke it though it is injected too) and it's meant to simulate an 'alternate reality'. It brings on some intense hallucinations but everyone who has had it says the same thing about it being where we came from and where we go, it's familiar, it's comforting etc...however...

Just before we are born and just after we die, it's proven our brain releases DMT by itself which to me is absolutely bizarre?

I don't know, there's alot of theories out there and when it comes to things like this one, people don't wanna hear it. It's a huge rabbit hole to go down if and when you have the time but it changed everything I ever thought about afterlife and death when I journeyed into it all.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyones thoughts though, great thread idea!!

I think it’s just like a light bulb, on one minute, gone the next. Once you’re dead you’re dead, same for all living things animals and plants. You’re just not alive anymore, I don’t think there’s an after life or anything but I guess nobody really knows until they die.

The idea of being dead freaks me out sometimes though, and what it feels like in those last moments, it’s hard to explain but I can’t imagine not existing, it’s like my body is the window to the world and once that’s gone there will be nothing, but obviously I won’t care because I’d be dead anyway. Can’t get my head round it. Don’t think I’m explaining myself well haha🤔

How strange! I literally posted the exact same thread on another forum I am on, this morning! great minds! :)

My reason for doing so, its coming up to the anniversary of my sisters death and I started to think about it so much more, as I remember what I was doing and how I felt up until her death as I kept a diary.

People always say ''She is looking over you'', ''She is always with you'', ''She is in a better place'' etc etc..

I know people say it as they don't know what else to say and I guess it depends on the individual if it gives them comfort or not.

I personally like the idea that my sister is still with me in some shape or form. It just makes me feel better..

I am not one for believing that feathers, robins, butterflies etc are signs. If someone gets comfort though from seeing one and believing it is their dead relative then I am not going to judge, it just isn't something I believe in.

I am not hugely religious, but its nice to think there is something there after we are gone... I guess I will find out when its my time lol.
