GP's don't know much. Whenever you go to see them they usually just refer you to a specialist. You're a doctor, you should know FFS!

part of the qualification/training to be a GP should be some kind of lessons on dealing with people, some GPs have 0 personal skills, how some of them treat patients would be a sackable offence in other customer facing roles
Side note: I took my son once when he was a baby (about 5 months or so) to ask about CMPA - she openly GOOGLED in front of me cos she didnt know what it was!
I had a similar experience with GPs (during the pandemic) who kept saying I was "fine" and they didn't know what was wrong with me. After 6 different GPs I finally found one who actually understood what was going on and made sure to not waste anymore time and he said I should keep making an appointment to specifically see him. He was brilliant!
I also feel like a bunch of GPs are pretty arrogant.
I agree with all those posts about GP's, it makes me laugh when people on forums say don't ask here go to your GP, give me those with personal experience over a GP anytime.

people go into medicine because of family pressure, the prestige associated with it, because they like the scientific side of things but the human side less so, because they like the guaranteed career path.
a lot of people go into general practice because it’s generally easier going out of all the career options in medicine.
all of the above means a lot of people get into it who really aren’t suited to it

A lot of GPs (definitely not all) are terrible at their jobs and shouldn't be in the job in the first place. Some of them have ridiculously poor communication skills and won't take the time to listen to some patients and misdiagnose them constantly. It's obviously been made worse with COVID.

GPs are a joke at the moment..Hospitals are doing appointments, i can see the nurse at my Doctors..you can go to dentist etc etc but my GP is still hiding behind telephone consultations. Why? are the Drs, nurses and other hospital staff not also at risk when they see patients what makes GPs so special.
so many people are being failed by GPs hiding still and waiting in agony on waiting lists because COVID is still taking priority over everything.
Completely agree, my Nanna was a child in the war yet the care home thought it nice to play wartime tunes all the time! Surely music from the 50s/60s would have been more appropriate!

I wanted to say, that you are a bleeping idiot!Exactly, yes. my mum was 8 when war broke out and not the happy time many think it was, with everyone up and dancing All her friends went to a birthday party but she was ill, the house was bombed she lost most of her friends. Why would she and why would all who lived through those times, want to hear fricking war songs every time there is a party or celebration. Same when they recreate the old wartime recipes for them, why, just why.
My 4.5yr old son has had tonsillitis 21 times in his life. I had to pay for a private referral (£200) back in September for him to be seen as the GP wouldn’t refer him until he was 5. Now my son is on a waiting list to be seen again at a hospital and it’s looking like his surgery won’t be until next year. Fucks me right off.
I had a stillbirth back in September and came home in so much pain. When I rang the GP she told me that I need to know the difference between emotional and physical pain and take brufen. I had a rip roaring infection but she wouldn’t take my word for it and nor would she see me in person.
Honestly it winds me up. I’m an ITU nurse and been on the front line since March 2020. They have been working over the phones.
I’ve had this before too. I find GPs really weird. I’ve been asked before ‘so what do you think is wrong with you’ which I found odd as I’m not a doctor so..that’s why I went to a GP. Another time, I had done my own research and read some medical papers (I have a PhD which involved training in reading/evaluating medical journal papers so I knew they were legit etc) and the GP laughed and told me off for Googling…before then Googling herself, and reaching the same conclusion as me?! I honestly avoid them these days, it’s difficult because I have a couple of health conditions but normally my approach to health is ‘wait and hope it sorts itself out’ now
