Starmer is not a “dick head”. I worked under him when he was the DPP and he is a decent man who wants to make a difference.
He was the only DPP to listen to our concerns and issues and he made a point of getting back to us with any progress or giving reasons why certain things could not be done.
It did not surprise me to hear today from someone in the by-election area that the Labour candidate was listening to concerns and getting back to people. Yes, a basic requirement you might think but something that had been lacking under the Tory. I am sure that is down to Starmer’s leadership.
He has turned Labour around from a catastrophic defeat a few years ago to the next government in waiting - no mean feat.
He may come across as dull and lacking in charisma, but what we need now is a steady, competent PM who is determine to reverse the decline of the last 13 years. I believe that Starmer is that man. Give him 10 years and we have a chance of living in a decent country again, but he certainly won’t be able to make the changes necessary overnight.

I’ll never vote again in protest at what’s happened to this country in the past five years. When you have people freezing to death because they are terrified of putting their heating on…how much worse can we get as a society?

They can’t even do something simple, like subsidise fruit and vegetables for people. The only decent thing I can think of is the £2 bus cap. Otherwise they don’t do anything to help us.

I don‘t think Starmer will be any better, he just kind of parrots whatever he thinks he should say. There’s something missing in his character. His cabinet is pretty dire, Angela Rayner 🤢
Starmer is doing what he has to do to get elected. Can’t blame him for that because we are desperate for change.
Angela Rayner will be infinitely better than any of those on the Tory front benches. These people care about the people in this country. The Tories only care about themselves.

Labour Party are crowing about a couple of bi election victories today, saying that the Conservatives are awful and voters clearly want them out.

Dear lord, when will they get it? You - Kier - are the lesser of two evils and the main reason many people have voted differently is not because they think you’re wonderful, but they think you might be marginally less shite than the incumbent. And voting rates are lower than ever because the average person thinks you’re ALL a shower of shite.

It’s not a victory dick head. 🙄

I haven’t voted for the last two elections. I always used to, because I believed in the view that women died for my vote and it was worth something. But now I don’t because I don’t see that’s it’s worth anything anymore.

All politicians are self serving bean counters, the least qualified people to run a country.

Soo apparently next GE will be a landslide for labour? Thoughts? Personally I'm going to applying for a visa elsewhere the economy is crap, taxes are very high, public services cut to the bone. I don't feel very positive about the future here, there's not much more they can tax on middle earners.

I think we need to be straight with ourselves, Covid has completely wrecked the economy we have inflation, higher interest rates. It won't be fixed by just raising taxes, it's not the reality. We need innovation, It's better for labour to come in when everything is good, I think the tories are doing this deliberately because when the global crash comes everyone will blame the labour party again then we will get stuck with the tories another 15 years. I've had enough of both parties.

Jan 25 is the last possible date, so it must be then or earlier. If there is an upturn in the economy then it’s possible Sunak will call an earlier election. Otherwise it’s most likely to be Jan 25.

Remember kinnock gleefully crowing labour would win the 1985 election, they didn’t. Pride comes before a fall. People will be complacent thinking they don’t need to vote and the cons will get in again. Personally I think a Lib/ labour coalition would be good. They managed to control the cons during the coalition. Just look at the shit show when the cons govern by themselves.
