She could be starting with Tourette’s, it does tend to start later on in childhood. My brother was around 7 when his behaviour changed (started being defiant and he also developed OCD) and not longer after that his tics started, he was around 9 when he was diagnosed.

please go to the doctor, for your sake and your daughters. They won’t judge, they have seen it all before, they are there to help and that’s what you both need.

I honestly don’t think you will be judged. My mum was also a single parent and it was back in the 90’s when my brother was diagnosed (he was born in 84, so it would have been 93) and it was a different world back then.

please put aside your worries, your daughter needs to see someone.

There can definitely be a link between stress or anxiety and tics. Good idea to speak to a doctor though. Might be helpful to make a note of what is happening and when, just to see if there's any links or help to determine the causality.

Why would you be judged? The Dr will want to help you both, that will be their concern.

I developed one as a child and it's resurfaced decades later and it manifests in a few different ways and very annoying. My brother has one also so maybe they run in families. I hope your daughter has improved Hankmcprank but going by my experience I don't think they totally disappear.

I remember reading a book years ago about a woman with OCD and she said tourettes and OCD are basically the same thing. The author had a tic as a child but I think it went away and she eventually developed OCD as she got older.

For the past couple of months I’ve noticed my daughter having tics with her mouth. It’s very hard to describe but I have about 10 videos of various tic’s including her mouth & scrunching her nose.

personally I am worried about going to the doctors but I don’t have any other option. She also had problems going out shopping, school refusal & I think I need to seek help.

it’s like a mask, she’s fine once she’s in school but shows up with me? She doesn’t have her dad in her life but. Not to be nasty, she’s 9.
Maybe an underlying problem (behavioural most definitely) but has anyone got any advice please?

If I talk to her about her tics, she doesn’t know what I’m on about.

My teenager has had a tic for a year or two. They kind of scrunch their eyes up. I had a telephone consultation with the doctor and tics are common while they are growing up and aren't a sign of anything serious. I don't think they notice they do it.

It could be stress related ,if your daughter has other things going on
