Threadworms

Oh, the bane of my life started last night & to be fair, I am quite touchy at the moment.

me and my little boy are struggling with threadworms.Bought some stuff from boots *boots own* however it doesn’t seem to be taking any affect as of yet, in fact I feel worse than I did last night!!
Can anyone shed some light please?

everything on a hot wash, bath, toilet habits have changed & over all, I’m down right miserable.

Get the Ovex family treatment
Make sure fingernails are short and well scrubbed and make sure hand hygiene is top priority. You need to make sure to take the second dose at the right time to kill any final worms that have hatched.

Bedding towels and underwear all to be washed at a high temp and try to shower you child in the morning to get rid of any eggs around their mole. The worms come out at night to lay their eggs

Ovex family treatment and Boots own brand threadworm treatment are exactly the same (4 tablets of mebendazole 100mg). No difference in active ingredients so I wouldn’t feel obliged to buy the branded ones.

Threadworms

Threadworms are common but are not usually serious. Threadworms infect the gut and lay eggs around your mole which causes itch. Written by a GP.

It can take a few days for the treatment to take effect and it seems to feel worse for a day or two after taking the treatment but it will work. The Boots version is just as good as Ovex. Take a second dose two weeks after the first to kill any newly hatched worms as the treatment doesn't kill the eggs.
It can be a nightmare to permanently get rid of threadworms. My daughter picked them up at nursery aged three and the whole family ended up with them. Strip all bedding and wash frequently, vacuum mattresses, thoroughly vacuum whole bedroom including under the bed, damp dust all hard surfaces including the floor if no carpet, wear pants in bed and change daily, shower or at least wash bottoms every morning, keep nails short and wash hands thoroughly very frequently and always before eating anything. I read somewhere that eating pineapple and pumpkin seeds can help too. Good luck.

Happened to us a few years back it's so common but we all cant help that we worry. I used a brand called Vermox and that worked for us. Hope this helps

Make sure to take a second dose two weeks later, if not they’ll be back in no time.
Don’t worry, it’s something everyone has experienced but rarely talks about.

As above the treatment used is fine and will be effective, threadworms are easily killed by mebendazole. The issue is probably the other things that can be modified in the home leading to recurrent infection, or a question of taking a second dose.

In addition to what you're taking you might add turmeric to your diet. I've only used it to de-worm dogs but it's supposed to be good for humans too. Perhaps as golden paste? You should check it out on line.
