Thornton’s Christmas chocolate

i was in town earlier buying paint in B&m and saw they had the Christmas snowmen/bear thingys in white chocolate for a quid each so bought two
is it just me that thinks it tastes like slimy sweet vomit?
i love white chocolate but this is foul
even my lot have turned it down and they eat everything (and I mean everything thats edible/mums treats)
I used to think their chocolate was the bees tits but this is just wrong

I used to love Thornton's but haven't been able to touch the stuff in years. It's all pure sugar now. There's no taste to any of their range, not just the white chocolate you tried. It's all just cheap tasting (almost like fake chocolate somehow) that isn't worth the price. I figured they'd changed the recipe or something.

The only stuff that still tastes the same is their Mint Collection. I'm a sucker for dark chocolate/mint anything, and I was glad to receive a box of their mint chocs last Xmas that still tasted exactly as I remembered it.

Although it could just be that my taste buds have evolved as I've aged

Same
I love chocolate but this isn’t it
no wonder it was so cheap
ill give the mint dark chocolate a go tho
thank you

I used to work in a Thornton’s store on weekends as a teenager. Back when the chocolate was good and I got 25% discount. 🤤

Tried some recently and it’s obvious they’ve changed their recipe. Wouldn’t buy again.

It used to be the treat of all treats for me years ago
very rarely did I get some
now it’s foul and cheap
but they still play on their name and it costs
i used to love their toffee but that’s done downhill too

Thorntons used be lovely chocolate years ago, but in the last few years it's definitely changed. Sugary and plastic tasting. Waxy or something. It's probably stuffed with palm oil and sweeteners.

Hate thorntons. Reminds me of the old Tesco stripy own brand chocolate 🤢🤢🤢
I used to love Lindt truffles.
They’ve gone awful as well.

Lindt has palm oil in it now too. All the nice chocolate has been ruined by it.
Aldi's own chocolate doesn't have palm oil and I'm not 100% sure, but I think Lidl might be the same.

Thornton's has palm oil? They made a big thing in the past about only using cocoa butter!

Lint using palm oil too?! I only buy the lint excellence stuff and that defiantly doesn't, the lindor stuff might do.

That said I think hotel Chocolat is so expensive for what it is.

Used to like Aldi chocolate then they started adding butteroil to it

Not sure about the Lindt bars, but the Lindor truffles definitely have.

Oh no, what chocolate have they done that to in Aldi? It's a while (probably last November as too much other chocolate around the house at Xmas) since I bought a bar there but it used to be fine.

I agree re: Hotel Chocolat. It's nice, but not worth that much.

Thorntons isn't as great as it used to be, I used to love getting Thorntons at Christmas but I don't touch them anymore, not even at work when there's not much else going lol! The only Thorntons ones that are nice imo are the dark mint boxes & Im not the biggest fan of dark chocolate! I love hotel chocolat, bit overpriced so it's a rare treat but everything I've had from there I've always really liked! I'm more likely to get their selectors though rather than a big box.

Not Thornton but we received Hotel Chocolat chocolates for Christmas and they were horrible. I am wondering if they've changed their recipe too? I remember them being good but they tasted of cheap chocolate.

It’s so bloody expensive too. And you’re right they’ve deffo changed the recipe, it’s revolting now. They’re trying to do too much with hot chocolate, beer, all the flavoured bars. They should go back to just doing a few and making really good chocolate. Montezumas is my favourite, it’s amazing

I got a present of their chocolate wreath at Christmas and it was very underwhelming.
I remember having one a few years ago and it was amazing.
Something has definitely changed there.

Try Monty Bojangles chocolate and their truffles. Expensive but definitely worth it as a special treat.

I like there Champagne Truffles and the Caramel buttons but I wouldn't buy a box again.

The fondant pigs were the best. They should never have stopped making those.
