i finished my masters last year but still was not able to find work. feel like a complete looser.
i signed up for a phd in a distance college. i love to learn and cant wait to dig my nose into books but this was such a big huge step. i am still scared. and i dont know how it will work out - full time job and studying but it was always a childhood dream and.. i will get through it.

Hi, I just finished my Masters in philosophy this year (I am a "recent graduate", to all Roobee fans), but I want to keep reading philosophy (but also literature in general) as much as I can which is not easy when you are also building a career in a completely different field. Trying to find the right balance right now because self-education outside from work is so important.

I'm in the last legs (that saying is correct I hope lol) of my master's degree in digital media communication. My thesis is due in November, shortly after I turn 37. 😃 I still don't know what to do after I graduate. Somehow I still haven't figured it out and that annoys me.
I work as a student research assistant at my uni and my contract ends at the end of March. The contracts are always for 6 months or so and I hope that I can work as a research assistant if I don't find a job until then.
Some graduates in my field work as content manager or something like that. But that's not what I want. At least I don't want to work in social media. I like writing, but I don't like writing SEO texts. I think I want a job where I can work with a small team or alone, preferably from home. I'm scared that I don't find a job, because I'm maybe considered too old or that I lack experience (which I do, but I'm willing to learn).
I thought about freelancing. I sometimes correct texts for my brother (he is self-employed as an archivist).
Sometimes I wish I was still in my early 20s. I don't know if it's true, but in my mind it seems easier for younger graduates.

Yeah I studied abroad in Germany- Hanover. There's a lot of paperwork and a more 'corporate' feel.

I started this thread because the StudyTubers threads were filling up with people's opinions about universities and workload instead of the individual but it doesn't seem to have taken off really haha :)

Going into my 3rd year (part time, work full time) in October with OU, studying childhood & youth. Also going to be due 👶🏼 the month before my final assignment so any mums who have managed their studies during pregnancy/after birth I’d love all tips!

I’m a mature student ironically studying near Popes’ grotto. I’m doing my first degree in a human science, graduating in 2025 when I’ll be almost 40.

Thank you for creating this thread! I'm a mature student at a German university, I went back to uni after getting a BA in Glasgow and then working as an English teacher for many years. Right now I'm studying English & Communication Science and loving it. But uni life in Germany is completely different than uni life in Scotland! 😅

I think you have to find your own little corner of the uni and make it your home! :)I'm lucky that I found a group of like-minded literature nerds to hang out with. We laughed so hard when I told them about Ruby's "Alexander Pope was potentially a Romantic poet" nonsense!:LOL:

I studied in Hannover as part of a year abroad programme and German unis are bigger and more impersonal, lots of forms to fill in! But modern and good tech :)

Ooh can I join? I graduated in July just gone and now I have a full time job I’ve been doing for a month. I got an email today saying I have 1 more month of my uni email address. Not sure I’m ready to admit im a proper adult now 😂

I’m debating whether to do a masters part time with the OU. I really want to but I am still recovering from undergrad tbh.

I'm a mature student, 38. I've started a part time degree in Cyber Security with the OU, I have a BSc in E-Business but have been a sahm for the last 14 years, worked on and off with my oh, he runs 2 businesses. Once my youngest hits double digits I want to go back to work full time within the cyber security field.

I’m a current masters student, I’m finishing at Christmas :)

I'm looking at additional courses I could do within my job. One option is a masters degree but I'd really prefer just to do the pgcert. Can't get funding just to do that through student loan but I think could for the full masters. Can you apply for the full masters funding then drop out after the first year and just get the pgcert? I just really don't want to do a dissertation again 🤣. The course links my current job with another sector so I'm thinking it might be a good thing to do to maybe get into the different sector possibly in the future
