Been going down a Tracy Beaker rabbit hole, found it interesting to see Dani Harmer (Tracy) and Chelsie Padley (Louise) have reunited and now have a podcast chatting about all things TB.

Thought My Mum Tracy Beaker and the Beaker Girls weren't great tbh, maybe it's cos I'm getting older but it felt very childish, the older TB series were hard hitting but I felt as the series' went on, became very kiddie like CBBC turned out to be.

Personally I think the Dumping Ground has been going on for way way long. It's a massive shame Dani is typecast as Tracy, I know she did other bits and bobs but felt that she stuck to the show.

Apparently Mia McKenna-Bruce (Tee from DG) and Amy Leigh-Hickman (Carmen) have some drama.

I definitely get your point about the childishness of the new series.
Remember in series 1 of TB and they’d show the horrible flashbacks of what life was like before she was taken into care?
I don’t think they’d show scenes like that now

What’s the drama between them?

Yes, they’d show Tracy abandoned and left alone to fend for herself, it’s like how Girls in Love which is another Jacqueline Wilson show often made comments about sex and genuine things teenagers did. CBBC appealed to an audience 8+, however it felt as time went by, it was literally for 4 year olds.

I think a lot of people on TikTok were commenting that they don’t follow each other anymore but follow their former co stars. IIRC, they used to be close but I sense maybe once the girls moved on, they drifted apart. Just because they were once friends doesn’t mean they’ll stay friends. Can’t be helped that people would have some rivalry between them because they’re similar age.

Loved Tracey Beaker, I think series 2 was the best mix of characters/ humour/ drama. Haven't watched much of the later stuff, used to follow Chelsie on insta, but she got very irritating trying to push some sort of pyramid scheme so had to unfollow for my sanity. Dani also did some questionable ads for the NHS which didn't sit well with me. Think I'll give the podcast a miss 🤣

SOTB is my go to show still and I'm 31. They tackled tough stuff in there especially later series with Crash

Did anyone as a kid think you could see the difference in the budget between series 1 and 2 of TSOTB?
Series 1 I always thought it looked more realistic I guess.
From series 2 the house looked bigger and better, they had nicer clothes etc
