I'm not proof at all. I asked a specific question. When we hadn't, rightly, seen her for months she came back for ...Wimbledon. What can you say about that visit? She came to present the prize because she's Patron but mostly she was there because she likes tennis. There was no substance to that visit.
I guess it does not have much substance but Wimbledon is a hugely important event and has long been associated with the Royal Family. George 5th was the first to present the trophy in 1907 so it seems quite appropriate that she would make her first official 'duty' doing something she really enjoyed. As I remember it she was still undergoing treatment at that time.

Well maybe not important to you but it is the biggest and most prestigious of the 4 Grand Slams in tennis so to a lot of people, me included, it is an big sporting event..:)

Was the trip to Wimbledon meant to have substance though? Its purpose was surely to give the public a chance to see her out and about looking well. Add to the fact she’s their royal patron and it is one of the biggest British sporting events I’m not sure it’s “unimportant” but actually made perfect sense? She was able to champion British sport, one of her key causes, and give everyone a chance to see her after the where’s Kate hysteria

I honestly hate the debate around Kate and her lack of appearances.
She's the married in, and as we all know mother's do sadly by default pick up the parenting slack, nannies or not.
I'll come at Kate for her lack of appearances only after Will steps up to the plate a bit more.

My point wasn't regarding Wimbledon, I love tennis and Wimbledon is great. It's the long association with the royals I had a quibble with. Yeah I know they are there to present the trophy, Jana Novotna etc but I don't think the average tennis fan could care less if they are there or not

I'm with you on this one.

The only expectation she faced when marrying in was to provide an heir or two. She's provided 3, and with severe HG illness during each pregnancy. And she has taken on more of a hands on parenting style than previous royals including the present king, the late queen and even the sainted Diana.

Providing an heir shouldn't stop once you've pushed them out, so her being more involved as a mother can only be a good thing for three kids in a very unique and scrutinised situation.

Thing is...when you look at the other three 'slams', and you see the President of whatever car-company is a 'favoured partner' of that slam present the trophy. Well, then you're incredibly happy that Wimbledon has a Royal patron. So much more classy and less commercial. It probably means a lot to the winners and officials too!

I'm quite sure that the winners just want to win and it doesn't matter who presents the trophy

She has been busy again today..

These kinds of engagements are where she shines, she’s great with kids she probably would have made a great teacher in another life. Those little kids, especially the little girl who seemed to hold her hand all day, will always remember it. Love that she turned up with them on the minibus rather than just meeting them there

Well Fred likes his nights out and female company.

Mary is aloof and snooty, but some Aussie posters say she's a 'bogan" who got lucky. To my understanding a bogan is like a chav.

Of course it could all be 'hate following' but the site I stumbled upon appears to be of Danish origin (but in the English language). The DRF is the first listed forum anyway
Where do we find these sites? And a bogan is a chav

I think she is a good Mum to those kids. I've seen her out with them more than once in her private life and it's obvious she has a warm, close relationship with them. I agree that this is good for the heir and spares.

But it's daft trying to make Wimbledon nothing other than that she goes because she likes it. I say that as someone who actually goes at least once a year and is a big tennis fan. She doesn't want anyone noticing the clothes but she wore Wimbledon purple - was she expecting no one to notice.

I like her. I think she has brought enormous stability to William and that will help him for the rocky road ahead. But...the Palace don't always help her with the publicity and visits she goes on from an optics point of view and you will never stop the media being fascinated by the clothes.

I agree. While I absolutely criticise her wardrobe spendings and her engagement numbers/Early Years approach, I do think she and her family are the best thing that could have happened to Wiliam in terms of healing from his parents crappy behaviour and the general clusterfuck of family dynamics he experienced. In the end, this and raising stable heir and spared is actually her job. The whole charity shebang is only because doing nothing while raking in all the privileges and money wouldn’t fly anymore today (and rightfully so). I don’t care if they do it to keep up appearances or if they have a deep commitment tied to their role and the goodness of their heart or being humble or whatever.
I have said it before. The ordinary UK citizen has a MUCH higher chance to meet someone from the RF and therefore get some official recognition for their work than I have in my country. And not just people doing charity but they do visit schools, factories, hospitals, sport events and such. So the normal, unremarkable people get seen too. I think that’s fantastic and would be a loss if they decide to just have an elected HoS at one point.
Anyhow. It’s good to see Kate being back and apparently not just in a once in 3 months schedule.

Why do the Mail keep bringing up Anne’s “mystery” head injury, what’s the theory there?

thought it was known she got kicked by a horse and it was ages ago now

I think that it's not fully explained. She said that she was going down to the chickens and can't remember anything else, while she was found among the horses. So why she was there and what exactly happened isn't known.

She has just been back to the hospital to thank the staff so that'll be why it's in the news.

Kate went to the engagement earlier this week wearing dark grey or black trouser and top with a brown blazer. Although Kate still looked good, in a photo I saw she looked almost indistinguishable from the woman behind her. Her clothes definitely looked unremarkable, I thought. (Although the papers did remark on them)
I did think by wearing that outfit she was being deliberate in her attempt to take the focus off her clothes and put it on the cause she’s there to promote. In theory it sounds like a good idea.

Having said that, I’m not convinced that great numbers of people are that interested in any of the RF members good works. Without the glamorous clothing will people stop reading and therefore the causes get less coverage? It will be interesting to find out.

I think she said recently that there were no horses in the vicinity of where she was found and no horses on her route to the chickens where she was going so not sure what happened really.

Fashion and all its add ons (shoes, makeup, jewellery etc) are often looked down on but they are big business. If I was part of Kate’s team I would lean into people being interested in her fashion choices by choosing only British designers (and when she goes abroad mix it with local designers from that country) and use a mixture of designer, vintage and high end. She’s going to be a walking advertisement for whatever she’s wearing so why not make it work for the UK interests. I get that makeup would be hard to be British only but even if they used a lipstick from Lily Lolo, mascara from Lisa Eldridge, etc it would again be a boost to the brands and the economy as a whole.
Trying to totally wash your hands of it looks pretentious and won’t work anyway.
